Mike Rowe exposes snobbery of anti-Trump journalists

If Donald Trump should win the presidency, I hope he will be able to prevail upon Mike Rowe to be his Secretary of Education and lead a desperately needed reform and restructuring of American education. For Rowe understands the serious harm being inflicted upon Americans by the worship of college as the essential first step into the workforce, and the utter disdain and lack of support for vocation skill training.

But Rowe’s vision is far greater. He also spots political bias, and on his Facebook page has written a delicious response to journalists who harp on Donald Trump’s base being “poorly educated.” It is the read of the day. Here is a fair use excerpt, but read the whole thing:

I don’t read his articles on Facebook or watch his videos often, but the guy is awesome and needs to be a part in the restructuring of the country.

". . . and the utter disdain and lack of support for vocation skill training. "

When States integrate community colleges and technical schools into the State University system, that's almost always the end of good vocation skill training. True, the courses remain and are often good, but to get the degree in a vocational skill the other required courses often force a lot of people who could do well in a given field to withdraw or flunk out.

Mike’s response to the elites bs charge about most of Trump’s male supporters being white guys without a college degree.

“In the last election, an even greater majority of African-American males who voted for President Obama had no college on their resume. Maybe I missed it, but I don’t recall any headlines or articles that delved into Obama’s popularity among “uneducated black men.”

Which begs the question as to why the Commie News Network was willing to give him a show? Did they have to fill some conservative ideology quota?

Gotta get out the door, didn’t have time to read the entire article.
It was pointed out to me that the thrust for EVERYONE to get a college degree was caused by a court decision that “aptitude tests” (remember aptitude tests?) were racist, therefore, not allowed.
Businesses not wanting to be sued, looked for a replacement method to screen employment applicants, and obtaining a college degree seemed to fill the need.
Plus there was an added benefit of the “education for profit” industry that could be milked for power and money.
Then of course, “free” college for everyone!!

Most ironic of all is the fact that this elitist viewpoint is being advanced by supporters of a Democrat ... you know, the party of the “Working Man?”

How do you think liberals can work for you when they look at you like something they stepped in on a dirty sidewalk?

Mike is right. You don’t need a degree to succeed. There are MANY college graduates with degrees who can’t find a job because there is no demand in their field. And there are plenty of highly skilled, well paid people who never set foot in college. When I was in the Navy, I worked with many very intelligent, highly skilled people who never went to college.

I think it was Mike Rowe who gave a commencement speech a few
months ago, talking about following your dreams and passions. That was all well and good he said, but just because you’re passionate about something, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to be any good at it.

One might question why these "progressive," regressive Hillary supporters are dismissive of the intellect and wisdom of the millions of citizens who reject her and support Trump! They condescendingly describe many as "uneducated," or "without college degrees."

Is it because they believe their K-2 through college indoctrination in Leftist nonsense, overseen by PC professors and teachers, has adequately dumbed down enough citizens to elect her?

Mike Rowe for Secretary of Education

You have two years to dismantle this department
Sell off as many of the programs as you can to Liberal states
Sell the Federal Education building as commercial property
Offer scholarships for Vocational Training to former Dept of Education employees

For the remaining two years of my first term you will be the Secretary of Labor.
Clean House!
Implement whatever programs you see fit, but run them by me first.

Ooooh Rah!

A VERY short-lived appointment to be sure.

In the elitist mind, uneducated white male = racist.

That's the wedge they're working on.

You nailed that.

I taught high school vocational electronics for 16 years and we were doing a respectable job of having kids job ready out of high school.

Then, the local community college found the Perkins funds trough and politically maneuvered everything into a 2+2 program, two years of high school then two of community college for a certificate.

That had the effect of shifting 3 focused high school courses into a two year program complete with all the liberal arts they required for the same certificate we used to issue in high school. That siphoned our share of the Perkins funds and our students.

The outcome was that the vocational programs died at both levels.

I had no college degree but managed to work my way up from a labor grade 7 mechanic to a labor grade 1, supervisor, test conductor and eventually classified as a propulsion engineer. Hard work, common sense, willing to do whatever needed to be done paid off for me. Took 36 years but it worked for me. Probably not so much anymore.
