And of COUR-ourse, they aren’t going to be looking for TB or any number of other things endemic to the area. Just Zika. How intensely politically correct can you get, how venal?

Salvation Army is a truly altruistic charity.

Red

Apparently, they find themselves offensive! Don't give a plug nickel to the Red Cross!

I have a neighbor who runs a blood bank. (not red cross)

She says testing for Zika is no big deal since there is a whole panel of tests they do on each sample. Whatever the reagent or antigen is that is used to mark it is the trick. Who owns the rights to the chemistry and the process is the financial goldmine.

Then of course there is planned parenthood who gets to abort every infected fetus. This Zika virus is a real question mark IMHO. Who let it loose and for what purpose?

He’s a police officer. He has a gun and handcuffs.

Is Red Cross speaking of blood donations or of other charitable giving?

I used to send support to the RC several times a year. About 2 years ago they stopped sending receipts. So I surmised that either they had gotten too uppity to bother sending receipts; or someone was intercepting my donations and skimming money.

Let that happen even once by a would-be chaplain and the lefties will go ape shit, the lawsuits piled to the ceiling. They would not dare (and even the bible says they shouldn’t).

“When my father got home from World War II, the Red Cross in San Francisco charged him for a donut and coffee. He never gave them a thing after that.”

There were a few alleged freepers here a few months ago who strongly disagreed with me when I had harsh words for Red Cross for doing that to our troops while they gave it away free to our allies’ troops.

Something about our boys being paid better than the other allies’, so there.

I didn’t buy it.

To ask for donations to support more activities of the kind would have been one thing. A lot of GIs were, in fact, generous. To sell it like a market... more dubious.

My mom has never forgotten that they charged my father for a cup of coffee when he came back from the Korean War. We give to Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Blessing.

It’s not like they brought Starbucks in, either.

Perfect example of the agnostic/atheist hypocrisy. I’ll never give a penny to these people. I’m Salvation Army all the way....

Probably so, but it would be funny as hell.

I know a few cops who would do it, but they’re not the praying kind.

Yeah, as funny as the hot place.

Christians can and should invite, but not push.

A law enforcement officer said he was asked to leave a Red Cross shelter in Lafayette, Louisiana after he prayed with several flood.

...and after being told that he told them to pound sand and continued to pray.

One of these days I'm going to be at the center of one of these situations. I won't be nice about it.

The Red Cross bills for every blanket, meal, article of clothing, or bottle of water they hand out. It’s not a charity.

Back in 1978 I spent over three days at the disaster site when the Titan II ICBM at Complex 533-07 had the massive oxidizer leak. The Red Cross set up a trailer and gave all of us free coffee, donuts, and sandwiches.

Also, while I was still a broke Airman I had a very close relative die in an accident and the Red Cross gave me enough money to buy a plane ticket home. They told me I did not have to pay it back but I did when my next paycheck came in.

I donated to them through the Combined Federal Campaign but I now give to the Salvation Army.
