A group of Indian Americans against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., was at the New York City India Day Parade Aug. 21 to hand out flyers against the presidential hopeful.

Citing a deep concern of Hillary and former President Bill Clinton’s persistent anti-India record during the past 25 years, the group passed out about 800 of the flyers while asking Indian Americans to support Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump....

“As senator, Hillary voted against the India nuclear deal (former President George W.) Bush set up and funded NGOs in India to unearth mass graves under the 'Get Modi' policy,” the group added in an emailed statement. “When she became secretary of state, one of the first things she said was Pakistan should get the same deal, ignoring that Pakistan has been the aggressor and sponsor of terrorism against India during the last 60 years,” it added...

Here's a copy of the flyer they handed out at the colorful and large India Day parade in New York City last weekend.

Here's a couple of views of the parade. The people pictured are not with this Trump-support group -- I'm just showing you a part of the scope of this big event.

This is all well and good, and I want Mr. Trump to get as many votes as possible, but many of these ethnic groups seem to be focused on their native country only.

Am I to understand that if Hillary happened to vote for the India nuclear deal and/or opposed a Pakistan nuke deal and/or Tulse Gabbard stayed loyal to Hillary, this Indian community would be in the Hillary camp? What about the irreparable damage she would do the the USA?

They live, work, play, and worship here. Their loyalties should be here first, not from whence they came.

Should be, but rarely are. The 1965 immigration law has been a disaster, filling the United States with people who have no desire to assimilate and who remain loyal to the cultures from which they came.

It used to be people came here from all over the globe and became Americans.

Now they are Indians living in America.
Or Pakistanis living in America.

Immigration without assimilation leads to disintegration.

Sociology 101 - certain cultures are incompatible. For example, the Syrian “refugees” attitude towards women vs. the U.S. Constitution.

Indians, Hindu and Buddhist both, know Islam’s horrors on non-Muslims. It is how the Hindu Kush (Hindu Killer) mountains got their name as Muslims killed those who opposed them and marched so many Hindus over the mountain range with insufficient clothing and food that most died that the mountains got their names.

And liberals blaming the victims or generic “rape culture” instead of the Muslim rapists have led to horrors like the Rotherham rape scandal in the UK to the 6 year old Idaho girl assaulted by several refugee boys and the family received no assistance and harassment while the boys who did it were theoretically supervised by family.

The greatest harm is the numbers - that each wasn’t just sprinkled through and thus left to assimilate but in large enough numbers to congregate, create enclaves, resist assimilation.
Thus you had the Armenian quarter in Jerusalem for centuries, China-towns that have lasted 100-200 years, etc.

Prior to 1965 the vast majority of immigration to America was from Europe. Most immigrants were basically cousins of the original American stock.

The 1965 law dramatically changed the source countries of immigrants to the US, altering the ethnic and racial composition of the country. The new groups don’t easily assimilate and often have no desire to anyway, they wish to retain their old culture and habits and expect Americans to assimilate to their ways.

Since so many Hindus from India had first hand experience with a large Moslem population, and probably stay abreast of the situation by communicating with relatives back in India, many of them might be closer to Trump’s ideas on immigration than to Hillary’s open borders and planned massive increase in Syrian refugees.

You have a point. I’m recalling an Indian friend of mine telling me how muslims often disrupt the Hindu and Christian festivals with explosives or other threats. I have never understood why India didn’t enforce their border after the huge and painful Partition.

We seem to be going back to the Middle Ages to accommodate these animals. Now we understand why they had walled cities.

Thank you for that link. India, and Indian-Americans, should be natural MAGA allies.

My local Hindu friends were all up into Obama last two times around, and I was wary of calling a few friends during this election season. This gives me hope.

Perhaps its a "both+and" situation and not necessarily an "either - or" —it seems likely that many may have living relatives in India, and share a concern for both countries. Indians in this country excel in STEM occupations and professions, and are likelier than many to be able to fly back and forth to check in. Still, America is the exceptional place, or they wouldn't stay here, especially since India has become more prosperous for the upper-middle and upper earners.

I would agree.

America is a leg up for Indians, no doubt about it, but they generally come as hard workers willing to cooperate with local norms and laws.

Since when has there been the Hindu equivalent of a jihad seen on THESE shores? They know they are in a foreign land that is not India. Good thing that they do NOT get jealous for America like they can get for India. We’d be hearing about some pretty ghastly events if they did.

Dear Paulie,

Don't fret about the Indians; they are assimilating.

Many are first-generation immigrants to the US and they still feel closely connected to the land of their birth.

It's no different than Italian festivals or the St. Patrick's Day parade. What started as shows of pride for foreign birth countries eventually morphed into a celebration of Americans lineage.

Indians have two things that make them valuable voters and allies: a strong sense of family and honor, and a desire to be titans of industry. A lot of them were schooled in Europe (particularly England) and left India to escape the corruption entrenched in the system (so they will hate Hillary because of it). It is easy to see why a world traveler like Trump would appeal to them.
