Gene Wilder, ‘Willie Wonka’ Star and Comedic Icon, Dies at 83.

Gene Wilder, who regularly stole the show in such comedic gems as “The Producers,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and “Stir Crazy,” died Monday at his home in Stamford, Conn. His nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman said he died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 83.

He had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1989.

First date with Mrs. Buckeye was to see him with Richard Pryor in See No Evil, Hear No Evil. A truly, truly awful film!

But he shall always be remembered as the original Willie Wonka and as Dr. Frank-uhn-steen. RIP.

So weird. I was just watching clips of "Willy Wonka" on YouTube yesterday. Hadn't seen that move since I was a child and better appreciated his fine acting when I became an adult.

In all the movies I've seen him in, he was pretty brilliant.
