A Mexican lawmaker is pushing legislation that would let Mexico's government retaliate against a possible Donald Trump presidency, Reuters reported Friday.

The legislation is designed to counter any attempt from the U.S. government to make Mexico pay for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, and gives the Mexican Senate power to disavow international treaties if Mexican national and business interests are threatened by another state.

"In cases where the property/assets of [our] fellow citizens or companies are affected by a foreign government, as Donald Trump has threatened, the Mexican government should proportionally expropriate assets and properties of foreigners from that country on our territory," the preliminary summary of the proposal said.

That's interesting. They have just devalued American investment in Mexican factories, etc. Are you listening Hershey, Carrier, Ford et al?

Looks like Trump policies are already having an effect. Can someone please tell that idiot Mark Levin?

“the Mexican government should proportionally expropriate assets and properties of foreigners from that country on our territor”

Nothing new. Since my grandfather’s property was expropriated about a hundred years ago, I shall demand reparations, with interest.

Someone would just set up a money laundering company in another banana republic. Or set up a courier system back though the border tunnels.

Mexico has never been a friend of this country, and will not hesitate to do anything to harm us. They’ve been literally outsourcing their poverty to this country, with the collaboration of political and business interests here, and the Mexicans who are swarming over the border provide Mexico with political leverage in the US, and also a conduit for $billions in remittances.

In any such trade and sanctions war the USA (with Trump at the helm) is going to win going away. It will be Mexico shooting its toes off one-by-one to retaliate against the Norteamericanos.

The companies that are there or thinking about going there are calling a meeting....to see if the Mexican Government can "own" all their companies.

IIRC, the USA government can withdraw the NAFTA Agreement.

That is exactly how wars start. The reason they may feel bold enough is because, with Zero’s help the enemy is already behind the wire.

It has a 1.1 trillion dollar GDP and 1/4 th of that is wire transfers from illegals IMO.

Which means that if Trump actually moves vigorously to deport all illegals, prevent them from being employed, and prevent them from getting welfare, it would collapse the Mexican economy in a week.

It would be cheaper for Mexico to pay for the wall.

So, in turn, can we seize the New York Times since it is owned by Carlos Slim?

Maybe Mexico will get so pissed off, it will start enforcing it’s own borders, NOT ALLOWING it’s citizens to violate our nation.

Short of that, it’s soon to be in a world of hurt.

Trump builds the way and immediate slaps a 25% fee on any funds heading to Mexico.

Ha ha ha...
