Didn’t you know? That’s why you get the day off on Monday. That’s what your Labor Day barbecue commemorates: socialism. Delicious, juicy, smoky socialism with a side of potato salad (German, of course) and a game of Cornhole (everyone’s a winner!) – frills made affordable to Americans, American businesses and big government waste-fraud-and-abuse mills by, well, capitalism.
I know, I’m a killjoy, and, call me a hypocrite, but I’m grilling out Monday anyway. Still, fellas, while you’re sweating over that sizzling Weber this three-day weekend, just be sure to tip a stein to old Karl, Vladimir and Josef. Without those genocidal schmendricks, you’d be stuck in your cubical Monday, just like every other day, playing Candy Crush and checking fantasy football.
Just yankin’ your chain. I’m sure you’re a hard worker, and, I mean, isn’t that really what Labor Day is all about? Hard work?
Actually, no. Not at all. Hard work has nothing to do with it. Labor Day is about “labor,” and “labor,” since the 19th century at least, has been, and yet remains, one of the primary “progressive” euphemisms exploited by leftists (aka, Democrats) to further the redistributionist goals of the global socialist movement.
Ah, Labor Day: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need!” “Workers of the world unite!”
And don’t forget to “look for the union label.”
No, I’m not being paranoid. The history of Labor Day is fascinating. And it really is rooted, 100 percent, in socialism.
In 1882 a couple of socialist cats named Matthew Maguire and Peter McGuire, both members of the Socialist Labor Party, proposed an official workers’ holiday in New York to be called “Labor Day.” Both men were also active in their respective labor unions, with Maguire belonging to the International Association of Machinists and Peter McGuire general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and co-founder of the American Federation of Labor. (Busy little pinkos, weren’t they?)
While historians differ over which man was principally responsible, our Marxist friends nonetheless had success, and on Sept. 5 of that very year, 1882, the United States saw its first official socialist Labor Day celebrated in New York City.
As the popularity of New York’s Labor Day gained momentum in urban centers across the U.S., President Grover Cleveland (yes, a Democrat) signed legislation in June of 1894 declaring Labor Day a national holiday to be held, like New York’s own, the first Monday of every September.
He was not re-elected.
Whereas the rest of the socialist world celebrates Labor Day on May 1 (May Day), America has always marched to the beat of a different drummer. And so we, a nation made both the greatest and wealthiest in all of history through the free-market principles of capitalism – heretofore reasonably regulated, but, alas, regulated to death under our current administration – give our little nod to Karl Marx on the last day of summer (appropriate, I think, as wherever there is socialism, the fall is not far behind).
Belong to a labor union? Bully for you. As Marxist.com, a popular pro-socialism website, observes: “Labor Day, also has a militant tradition and an origin within the U.S. labor movement itself. … The September holiday was conceived of and celebrated by socialists and militants within the labor movement, and we should remember and reclaim this history.”
And so, as we enjoy friends, family, food and fun this extended Labor Day weekend, let’s heed the advice of Marxist.com and remember that this particular holiday – this “workers’ paradise” for a day – was “conceived of and celebrated by socialists and militants within the labor movement.”
A socialist movement, mind you, that thrives from within the freest nation on earth (for now at least) – a nation made great, in large part, by the very capitalism unions, and the Democrats they fund, so hate, and desperately seek to destroy.
In fact you are not only grasping at a straw, but also at a straw man.

Of course, what difference does it make to people who can move to any nation on earth because once their "holding company" destroys enough businesses this country becomes a third world nation, huh?

I ran a small business for years and employed a dozen folks. When I had to retire due to disability I handed them the company for a song rather than selling it to someone who wanted the contracts. Which, of course, isn't what I should have done because wasn't I entitled to the fruits of my labor rather than those who worked on sites I had contracts with ?
Look at one of the biggest wicked cronies we know, Soros.

There IS an all-American, born, bred, and bled red, white, and blue ‘union’.
It is a union made up of Americans from all walks of life, all levels of education and ethnicity. All working for America.
To be a member of this ‘union’, you must work in one of many career fields, after some class trainiing, OJT, and further apprenticeship till you attain, at least a journeyman level, under a minimum contract of four years.
You will have some ‘shopwork’, and be sent into the field, either on assignment, or to hone your skills for other divergent careers. Some of the work might be difficult or dangerous. You might become injured ‘on the job’, with lifelong reminders. But, fear not, your ‘union’ benefits and membership are now guaranteed, for life.
What is this ‘union’ I speak of?
It is the ‘union’ of my brothers and sisters, all military veterans. This is the only ‘union’ that is not Communist, but pure American.
Enjoy your ‘Labor Day Weekend’, Matt, while my brothers and sisters on duty make it possible for you to do so comfortably!

I'm sure neither you nor Mr. Redneck have such poor reading comprehension skills that you actually believe that's what I've stated or even implied so knock yourselves out with the BS, you obviously enjoy spreading it around.
The soul seems either perverse or confused. But maybe I wasted too much wind of my own on the matter. Argh. Yes, there ARE connections between “crony capitalism” and “socialism.” They aren’t enemies; they are friends. The socialism spreads the lie that officious government can fix all your problems. The crony capitalism concentrates what it can of the rest of the riches and buys influence through the socialist organizations. Soros is one of the starker pictures of this. He isn’t donating to Club For Growth; he’s donating to Black Lives Matter.
I am praying that we will see an improvement in the near future. It won’t be perfection — but perfection never was the goal of the world while it remains the world.

When the coal companies are bankrupt and the right new people like Soros own them watch coal come back and then tell me who the system is rigged for or do you consider shutting down the use of coal an insidious Socialist plot to put unemployed coal miners on Food Stamps ?
Better still, look at the oil flowing over the rails while pipelines are held up and consider who is really benefiting from Obama putting the EPA nix on pipeline construction. Are the "the masses" being given cash and goodies based on the rail traffic volume or is it Warren Buffet who benefits ?

Guess who the big union organizers are endorsing now. Not Donald Trump! Hillary Clinton! With promises she has every reason to know jolly well she cannot keep. That ought to tell YOU where Big Labor is, and that they are not your friends.

What an imbecilic thing to say. Cleveland had already run for President three times. He never ran again. The author is making sound like he tried to get re-elected in 1896 but lost the vote. William Jennings Bryan was the Democrat nominee that year. Even the "Gold Democrats" didn't run Cleveland for a fourth time.
