Trump campaign: New York Times illegally obtained state tax records
Conservative Firing Line ^ | 10/02/2016 | Joe Newby

How far is the Democrat-media complex willing to go to get Hillary Clinton elected? Try this… On Saturday, the New York Times published some of Donald Trump’s state tax returns from 1995, prompting the campaign to accuse the “news” outlet of engaging in illegal activity, the Daily Caller reported.

“The only news here is that the more than 20-year-old alleged tax document was illegally obtained, a further demonstration that the New York Times, like establishment media in general, is an extension of the Clinton campaign, the Democratic Party and their global special interests,” the campaign said.

On Saturday evening, the New York Times — which recently endorsed Hillary Clinton for president — published three pages of Trump’s 1995 income tax documents.

“The pages were mailed last month to Susanne Craig, a reporter at The Times who has written about Mr. Trump’s finances,” the paper explained in the story. “The documents were the first page of a New York State resident income tax return, the first page of a New Jersey nonresident tax return and the first page of a Connecticut nonresident tax return.”

The newspaper wrote in its story that Marc E. Kasowitz threatened “prompt initiation of appropriate legal action” against the Times if they published the records because Trump did not give permission for the records to be disclosed.

But it seems the Times is more concerned with getting Hillary elected than following the law.

I work at a place that deals with tax returns.

It's possible that the person who pulled Donald Trump's New York state tax records for the New York Times also pulled the attached IRS tax records, too. That would put both the person that pulled it and anyone atthe New York Times who read the records--the article author, the editor above him, possibly even the paper's Editor-in-Chief and even the publishing company liable under both New York State AND Federal laws in regards to income tax form privacy.

Yup, and then published them anyway if they claim they dont know who mailed them-which they appear to be doing. That is defamation and a whole bunch of other neat legal stuff.

“On FOX just now someone is saying that it was not illegally obtained because it was obtained passively, someone just mailed it to them. yea, right.”

If that made it ‘legal’, as dirty as NY politics is, this sort of thing would have been done for decades.

Unless handed to them personally by DJT or a duly authorized legal representative, they’re in big trouble.

These were state tax returns, but yes, that’s what happened.

Excellent. Liberals never learn to make sure their hands are clean before they use them against someone.

Trump is not 100% right on all things. He can’t suggest to the Russians to send something to the press that oughtn’t to be sent... and then raise fusses about this too. He has to give on one point or the other or else display inconsistency.

And the Clinton Foundation pays no taxes, and spend a small percentage of its funds on actual charity. The rest is a slush fund for the Clintons.

the mainstream media (which when abbreviated is a vulgarity) are now nothing more than brown shirts in print.

“Lynch has no authority in this matter. The individual state Dept. of Justices have investigative responsibility.”

That means it could fall under the responsibility of Preet Bharara. If it does, PASS THE POPCORN!

I’ve been trying to make that very argument on another thread.

Either they didn’t run this by their legal department, OR they have reason to believe they’ll never be prosecuted for this.

So under their rationale, wikileaks did nothing illegal by publishing the DNC emails that somebody sent them.

One right does not trump another right. The NYTimes 1st Amendment right does not allow then to infringe upon anyones 4th Amendment right. They think they’re playing rock, paper, siccors and it’s bs. If Donald can get a real judge and not a democrat appointee, he can win big.

We are all aware of how politicized the IRS has become. It’s very interesting how in previous elections Demonrats, most notably Harry Reid, seem to have a very detailed knowledge of the Koch brothers and Mitt Romney’s tax returns. This election it’s Mr. Trump. All of these are private companies / individuals. Since none of their tax or other records are public, when will this criminal activity be investigated?

There are federal and state laws involving the publication of tax return information and the penalties thereof. Think HIPAA for rax information.

Exactly. And the fraud committed by millions using the earned income and child tax credits adds up to millions more every year than Trump’s one year loss.

Is the NYTimes collaborating with Russian hackers? We need a full scale FBI investigation into how the Russians are trying to influence, with the NYTimes as an abettor and accomplice, the US Presidential election.
