Gander Mountain is proud of their stuff. I got my H&R 12 ga. pump from Academy for 20% less.

My father has said the same thing about Cabelas, and hasn’t bought anything from them lately.

“If anyone can remember Cabella bought Gander Mtn.”

I was not aware of that. Kind of disappointing to know since Gander Mt. is STILL a crap store.

I use the Cabela’s credit card for almost all of my purchases. The points add up quick!

Something about the free firearms I get with the points, though. They always seem to end up at the bottom of a lake somewhere.

Fewer executives to bribe/intimidate into dropping firearm sales.

BINGO!

My husband got a firearm coupon in the mail and bought two (very expensive guns) there last Christmas. Place and line was out of control (surly, understaffed). when my husband presented the coupon, the clerk waved him away and said it comes off the price automatically. Well, guess what- when the bill arrived, no discount! We’re talking hundreds of dollars which is why he spent a Saturday driving and hour and standing in line for hours. He called and very politely explained the situation and said he still had the coupon for them to apply a credit to his card. Girl said ‘too bad, sale is over can’t do that.’ Politely asked to speak to manager and told the story. Was told the same thing- too bad. Husband said he was cutting up his Cabella’s card and never bothering to give them business again. Was told ‘okay, bye. We have never been back.

I love Green Top and probably spend too much money there. I liked them better when they were located in that small building off Route 1. I loved how crowded it was and having to wade through isles of guns.

Time to cash in my Cabela’s bucks before they disappear.

Our family has been Cabela’s users for decades. Some of our Cabela’s brand clothing and outdoor gear has lasted for decades.

Their credit card has been great. Our card has been hacked 3 times. They have caught the hacking immediately, cancelled the hacked card and sent a new one with zero effort on our part.

Our only real complaint is the massive number of mailings/catalogs we get each week/month and year.

For years I have been amazed that these retailers can remain open. Too many times it seems employees outnumber customers in these shops.

Dude, push no, relax, and enjoy the rest of your day. Life is too short. Keep the edge for things that matter.

Good gollee. The boot inserts I wanted to buy were $20...bought them someplace else at the same price. Getting stuck for several hundred dollars would’ve led me to small claims court (just for the nuisance value to Cabelas). I would’ve been very irate.

Cabela’s don’t sell firearms through their mail-order stores, only in-person store sales.

I think Bass Pro will sell to dealers in your local area.

Ya I visited their Sidney store many years ago right at the front of the big expansion push. It was far diff than the other stores they had expanded into. That’s all water under the bridge now...

I love Campmor. I’ve been buying from them since the 80’s.

Up until about twelve years ago, anything you bought at Cabelas was of outstanding quality.Especially their coats and other clothing. Then, suddenly, everything became cheaper in quality but not price. That’s when I stopped shopping much there.

It's like that with many outfits. They build up a reputation for quality, then get a new CEO who decides to improve his stock options this year by slashing costs (and quality) while keeping prices high.

We have friends from the West Coast and friends from the MidWest with adult children working for Cabela’s in their home office.

Cabela’s used to be a great company to work for, and now it has apparently become a sweatshop of horrors for good workers.

I still regularly use a Cabelas sleeping bag my dad got me when I was about 12.
