Donald Trump won the debate but had two big losses Sunday
San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | 09 October 2016 9:30pm | By The San Diego Union-Tribune Editorial Board

By conventional wisdom, Donald Trump entered Sunday night’s debate with a nearly impossible task: trying to rehabilitate his bid for the White House after the worst two weeks a modern presidential candidate has had. The tape that surfaced Friday of Trump talking in 2005 in disgusting, coarse fashion about women — what he considers a seduction technique sounds like sexual assault — broke the Republican dam and triggered a flood of GOP lawmakers abandoning his candidacy.

Trump not only seemed to slow the bleeding, he might have stopped it. His demeanor and delivery were far better than in the first debate. He weathered the inevitable questions about the 2005 tape without further self-damage, and then he launched effective attacks on Hillary Clinton’s record as secretary of state even as she played defense well.

This is a POWERFUL quote.

I think I will print this and put it up as a reminder for personal battles.

Thanks for posting.

All Trump has to say is “I selected a vice president who can think for himself and might not agree with me all the time. In fact, I don’t expect him to. And when he disagrees I expect him to challenge me and he may change my mind. Unlike Hillary who selected a yes man / hatchet man.”

I hope someone from the campaign is reading freerepublic. They can get some good advice from this site.

I wonder how long before some of those who bolted and ran will come whimpering back. When, or if, they do I hope Trump says “I never knew you. Where did I get that? Read the Bible and you’ll find out.”

...as she played defense well.

Yes, she is a very skilled and effective liar that has been practicing her craft for decades.

My sentiments are similar, however, I disagree with you here..

“They were willing to do anything to elect Hillary.”

Most don’t want to elect Hillary, they just want to try to save their own jobs.

No complaints here! He has done an outstanding job thus far. Especially when one considers this is not his ‘normal’ work routine. He deserves my trust and confidence; it is freely given.

LORD of the Flies - there were few adults to be found there as well.

Peculiar article. Read it several times and couldn't find what "two big losses" they're talking about. Either they don't write very well or aren't very bright.

On the other hand, they had a positive reaction to Trump's "graceful" remark about Hillary:

Trump’s final comment — in which he expressed admiration for Clinton for being a “fighter” who doesn’t quit — was perhaps the only moment of grace in his entire campaign.

Do these sad people truly lack a sense of sarcasm? Trump wasn't complimenting her. It was a joke! Think. Who's the character that keeps coming back no matter what; that never gives up and never quits?
The TERMINATOR!

You often see that in MSM articles.

The headlines are often written by editors who need to please their corporate masters—so when necessary they just totally fake it.

Hillary tying Trump to Russia is laughable—she is bought and paid for by every corrupt regime on the planet including Russia and its plutocrats.

Now whether she would stay bought is an open question—but the Russian mob takes a dim view of people who take their money and then betray them...just saying...

I thought the whole Russia thing was bizarre; Trump rightfully brushes it aside asking how she knows they are involved. It seems like an odd thing that she keeps pressing that button, but I’d imagine it is to maintain the illusion Russian hackers are planting fake emails on her server?

Trump is judiciously saving ammunition for his upcoming third round knock out of “Hildabeast, lord of the flies”.

No doubt.

Trump should have hammered her for selling 20% of our uranium to the Russians while she was Sec of State, and that Russians made a huge “donation” to the Clinton Foundation afterwards.

I think Hillary exposed her totalitarian bent when she said she would appoint unaccountable to the voters,Supreme court Justices who would look at the World as it is today.
Excuse me,where does it say in the Constitution that Supreme court Justices are supposed to look at the World to make their decisions instead of the Constitution.
Hillary is admitting she will use an activist court to implement her leftist agenda, the country is doomed if that happens

She’s espousing the equivalent of this “living” Constitution that is magically somehow supposed to evolve with every nit and fancy that leftists harp about.

Social justice, other legal instruments from foreign countries, prevailing (twitter, Facebook et al) sentiment and media interference are destined to ‘evolve’ our Constitution? Hell no. The sooner we get of the special interest justices (gay, old decrepit bitter liberal, and that ‘wise Latina’) the better.

There’s a lot that COULD be said about the Clintons, none
of it good. Only 90 mins. and three ganging up on one is
about all any human being can withstand. Raddatz, Cooper
and Hitler-y were all no match for TRUMP last night!

The president doesn’t “appoint” anyone to the Supreme Court. He nominates; the Senate confirms.

That said, Hitlery verified last night that her nominees would be (as expected) left-wing second-guessers who ignore history and act as a super legislature. The damage they could do (again, by her own inadvertent admission) could last for decades.
