EDITORIAL: Donald Trump For President
Las Vegas Review-Journal ^ | October 22, 2016

Posted on 10/22/2016 8:51:42 PM PDT by Helicondelta

These are turbulent times.

More and more Americans express frustration and disillusionment today with the political institutions that govern the nation. They clamor for an alternative to the incestuous and pernicious atmosphere dominating the capital. They see a vast array of lobbyists, elected officials and entrenched interests manipulating the levers of power for their own enrichment at the expense of ordinary citizens.

The discontent isn’t confined by ideology or political philosophy. As Donald Trump confounded the pundit class in ignoring convention and protocol on his way to securing the Republican presidential nomination, a long-time socialist generated throngs of enthusiastic supporters on the left and almost derailed the Democratic coronation of Hillary Clinton.

“Change is in the air,” activist Marianne Williamson wrote, “as old patterns fall away and new energies are emerging.”

And so it is.

History tells us that agents for reform often generate fear and alarm among those intent on preserving their cushy sinecures. It’s hardly a shock, then, that the 2016 campaign has produced a barrage of unceasing vitriol directed toward Mr. Trump. But let us not be distracted by the social media sideshows and carnival clatter. Substantive issues are in play this November.

Our allies on the world stage watch nervously as America retreats from its position of strong leadership leaving strife and conflict rushing to fill the void. The past eight years have pushed us $20 trillion into debt, obligations that will burden our children and grandchildren. The nation’s economy sputters under the growing weight of federal edicts and regulations that smother growth and innovation. Obamacare threatens to crash and burn. The middle class struggles. An administration promising hope and unity instead brought division.

Yet Hillary Clinton promises to lead us down the same path.

As Edmund Burke so insightfully observed, "Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it."

It's just a disturbingly profound shame that so many like Hillary want to repeat it...and repeat it writ large.

Oh, and don't forget to whom Alinsky dedicated his book, Rules for Radicals: none other than Satan. Frank Nitty was just a convenient conduit/stand-in/tutor for the true Mentor, the actual Master don't you know.

When Trump's Attorney General starts investigating the Crintons, IMO, he will find an entire landscape of crimes and I am sure that McAuliffe will be part of this.
And when that day comes, I and millions of other Virginians will rejoice to see McAuliffe and his entire corrupt and contemptible cabal frog-marched out of Richmond to a set of cozy cells in a Federal Penitentiary.

Talk about a deliciously savory mental image.

Again, I was picking a nit. But my nit-picking was grounded in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution of Virginia. It is this part of the Constitution of Virginia which states, "No person who has been convicted of a felony shall be qualified to vote unless his civil rights have been restored by the Governor or other appropriate authority."

You can read the full text of the Virginia Supreme Court ruling here: https://lintvwavy.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/scotus-mcauliffe-voting-rights.pdf

Bottom line, what McAuliffe tried to do with his blanket restoration of civil rights to the 206,000 felons (probable Democrat voters) was to use the proper authority granted to a Virginia Governor, yes, but in a fashion obscenely far beyond the purpose for which it was intended. It was intended to allow a Governor to grant clemency, on a case-by-case basis, for those individual former felons who turned themselves around and became productive citizens after they "paid their debt to society" via prison-time. Nothing more.

What McAuliffe brashly attempted was a brazen bastardization of gubernatorial clemency. Had he succeeded, it would have made a mockery of the clemency powers granted. Thankfully, the Virginia Supreme Court still had some Constitutionalists on it. Even so, it was still a four to three ruling: yep, three of our Virginia Supreme Court justices were perfectly fine with McAuliffe's brazen bastardization.

You posted the endorsement by The Las Vegas Review Journal.

Mentioned in the Wash. Post:

Trump receives his first major newspaper endorsement, and he has Sheldon Adelson to thank

I never knew that any governor of any state had the right to grant felons voting rights and keep them from owning guns at the same time.

Bingo. No more calls please. We have a winner.

And I seriously doubt that had a Republican Governor in Virginia attempted to restore, in a carte blanche fashion, the right to bear arms to felons, that this Republican Governor would be hailed as courageous. Said Republican would be resoundingly condemned by the little old ladies of both sexes in the anti-gun crowd/MSM. But Governor McAuliffe? Why, just yesterday received a civil rights award for his "courage": http://www.nbc29.com/story/33456128/mcauliffe-receives-swanson-courage-award-for-voting-rights-decision.

Galling yes, but hardly surprising.

Terry McAuliffe doesn't give a rat's rear end about these felons. He restored thousands of felons' right to vote solely for Hillary's benefit. To believe otherwise is just plain stupid. To believe that McAuliffe did this for the benefit of the felons is to indulge in sophistry of galactic proportions.

You must take a long view. Terry McAwful is enduring as Governor to have a credential to run for the Senate and President

He is a fool of course for believing so, but he is blinded by the potential

The prelude is to be endured while dragging as many corrupt $$$ as possible. He also receives a supplement from the Clinton foundation sub sub sub corporations.

Rest assured that I am well aware of the many layers of nefarious duplicity at work here. And that I am well aware of the various Virginia "stepping stones" which Democrat hacks have used: Tim Kaine's career alone has plainly demonstrated this for all, not just Virginians, to see.

Kaine has long hitched his wagon to riding on someone esle's coat-tails. Mind you, it was formerly Mark Warner's coat-tails; but now Kaine is a hack/lapdog for Hillary, riding her coat-tails. (Which is only fair: she's ridden Bill's coat-tails for how many years now? But I digress.)

Of course, should Hillary's unhealthy carcass be dragged, Weekend at Bernie's style, across the finish line, then what a great gig it would be for little Timmy: to go from lapdog to Top Dog when Hillary's cratering health forces her out under Amendment XXV, Section 4 of the Constitution. Score!
