WASHINGTON – The Army said Friday it has determined that suicide was the cause of death of a two-star general who was found dead in his home on a military base in Alabama.

Maj. Gen. John Rossi was found dead July 31 at Redstone Arsenal, two days before he was to assume command of Army Space and Missile Defense Command.

My father in law was one of the meanest, and physically toughest people I’ve ever met. He served from Vietnam to the Persian Gulf but when he got cancer news from his doctor he couldn’t face chemo and the idea of being helpless so he killed himself. It happens.

I can’t argue that point with you, but he does have plenty of company. Including 50 Governors all of Congress every judge, every policeman/woman, everyone that ever swore to “Support and Defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, Domestic and Foreign”. The Main Stream Media, the Democrat Party, and obama are our three domestic enemies. In the order that they are mentioned. The main stream media is domestic enemy number one. The Democrat Party is domestic enemy number two because the main stream media subsides and sustains it. obama is domestic enemy number three because he is a creation and puppet of both the media and Democrat Party.

But, the taint of Obummer is strong. I would ask all who achieved flag rank under ObOzO to resign.

OK. So you force them all to resign, regardless of their record of service, whether they actually deserved it, have done a good job, etc., and the GOP president promotes who he wants - all new brass. But what happens the next time a Dem is elected? That sort of revolving door in the military brass is the stuff of third world countries or North Korea….

Certainly the new POTUS and his SOD should look at any questionable flag rank promotions, make reassignments, perhaps persuade some early retirements, make sure his administration puts the right people in the right jobs, but I would think it would be disastrous to for every one promoted for the last 8 years to be forced to resign.

Admiral Jeremy Borda, while Clintons were in power, shot him self over medals...may have used the same pistol that V.F did. Most unusual......( statement about pistol is a deliberate attempt to obfuscuate and render the truth to subjective nonsense in absence of reasons why a missile button pusher would take a lead antidote) Unless of course, there is pressure to October surprise the populace with a nucular ((sorry, wrong President))option to bring about a cataclysmic event that will get the election mis step forgotten.

When I was an IHAWK Battery Commander in Germany, he was my Lt. He was an outstanding Soldier. On his last OER, I wrote that he was future General Officer Material. He always tried to keep in touch. We visited at Ft. Bliss and was at his promotion to MG. He was hardest on himself, which may have led to his tragic death. RIP John.

General is most senior Army officer to kill self
Rossi himself talked in March about suicide at a conference on preventing troops from killing themselves.
He held up a card from his wallet with photos of 10 soldiers who had died under his command at Fort Sill, Okla. Four of them had committed suicide.
Rossi led off the event by reading the reports of recent suicide attempts to the soldiers at the event, according to a news story on the Army's web site. He told the conference that he received reports of four soldiers per week thinking about or attempting suicide.

Something just ain't right about this.

Wouldn’t he wait a couple of days to get his third star at least? His family would then a get a three star pension.

There just isn’t a rational reason for a man to kill himself 2 days before pinning on his 3rd star

Rationality would be resigning and retiring
Depression isn’t rational

Nor would it be rational for a woman to commit suicide right before a triumphant election to the highest office in the land.

But it sure would provide an excuse to end investigations into soooooo many if her co-conspirators.
No motive there, is there?

Doesn’t work that way. The 3 & 4 stars are political appointments.

Too true. But there does exist the possibility that it wasn’t suicide.

Poor man either way.

A debilitating, stress induced, memory destroying stroke would be my guess.
