Corker, another let’s-go-to-war-with-Russia guy...

That's a head scratcher...going to war with Russia benefits neither side, and could destroy both!

The largest factors were concern about possible conflicts of interest and Tower’s personal life, in particular allegations of alcohol abuse and womanizing

Ted Kennedy, IOW.

Absolutely, and anyone with half a brain has already developed some thick scar tissue over that fact, making us 95% impervious to the enemedia agitprop.

"But expect one hell of a fight."

Expect Sessions to get borked and rejected, just as he was rejected for an appointment to a Federal District Court. The Dems will beat him over the head with previously uttered "racist" remarks, and wishy-washy Rinos in the Senate will go along to reject him.

Part of this will be McConnel's efforts to "establish himself as independent of Trump." After Sessions is rejected, Trump will put forth Cruz as his next appointment, marshalling The Deplorables across the land to pitch a hissy fit in the direction of vulnerable Senators in the next election cycle.

You heard it here first.

My take as well. If Trump ever does invite Cruz into his administration there are going to be a lot of Freepers with egg on their face

Where do ya get that BS? I trust Trump. And if Trump thinks he can use Cruz for whatever, he must know something I don't.

I personally think if Trump were to did give Cruz a token position it could be a mistake, because I don't trust Cruz and never have. And I've been paid to size people up. How about you?

Btw, the only people with egg on their faces were those who got hoodwinked and conned by this poser.

Trivia question ...where is the longest straight run of rail track....?

If I had to guess, probably in Australia.

You make my point. You think Cruz is a loser. Trump cleary doesn't. Trump is not going to waste time with "Loser Cruz".

Wait for the clamor for "diversity" and THEN appoint Sheriffs Clark and Arpaio, Col. Allen West, Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann.

We'r DONE with diversity and the rest of the PC crap. Competence is the key. The most competent person gets the job. Period.

The folks I listed ARE the most competant. The reason for the exercise is NOT to fulfill a quota, but to again expose hypocrisy.

Trump thinks Cruz is a winner? Get real...lol

And if what you say is true, what is the big position of trust Cruz was asked to fill in the Trump Administration?

Take your time.

That they are. I hope each one gets a post. Would love to see Palin at Interior and Bachmann take over the IRS.

And btw, my comment above which you said made your, "Point" was regarding the election for the presidency. You might have missed it, but Cruz lost big and went down in utter disgrace and embarrassment.

Many of us Cruz heads thought the same thing about Trump.

But we got over it and were in no small part the reason he is Pres-elect.

You might consider doing the same.

At what point did Ted Cruz really seriously get in the fight to fight the battle day to day to get Trump elected?

He attended three rallies in total, and refused to say the name Trump at one of them.

He also spent less than an hour in a phone room about three months ago.

Get over what? I see Ted for exactly who he is.

It is you folks who failed to see Trump for exactly who he was until late in the game.

Look, I appreciate your support of Trump, but there is no reason at all for me to change my view of Cruz.

He never proved me wrong about him.

Don’t worry, Alabama will have a fairly conservative senator. Liberals don’t do well here. Finding another Jeff Sessions is not going to be possible, but it will be okay.

“...he must know something I don’t. ...”

I’d imagine he does. He’s the President, after all. And you don’t get to where he is in life by leaving enemies standing behind you. You either destroy them, or turn them into something you can use.

Whether or not he has a position for Cruz is not the point. The point is, he met up with the guy probably trying to smooth things over. Same thing with meeting with Romney.

Like it or not, there’s games people play in this world, especially in the corridors of power. And if Trump thinks he can find a use for Cruz, he will do so, whether you or I or anyone likes it or not.

To my mind, he’s doing “the art of the deal” here, nothing more.

And no matter what, a potential ally is always better than an enemy waiting to stick you. Yeah, keep an eye on the guy for sure, but if he needs something done in the Senate, well, maybe (operative word here) now he has an ally there.

I understand your point, though; Cruz acted like a complete ass for a while there. They were BOTH hurling insults at each other and it got way stupid really fast.

But those are the primaries, and that’s what it’s about - last man standing.

And as for sizing people up - again, you don’t get to be a multibillionaire owner of a global empire by NOT knowing how to size people up; I’m sure Trump’s gotten boned over by folks many times in his rise to the top. He’s not a stupid man.

Should have got a screen shot, already been changed back.
This is what was on wiki.

Early life and education[edit]
Sessions was born in Selma, Alabama on December 24, 1946, the son of Eva Braun and Adolph Hitler[4] His father owned a general store in Hybart, Alabama and then a farm equipment dealership. Both of Sessions’ parents were of primarily English ancestry, with some Scots-Irish.[5][6] In 1964, Sessions became an Eagle Scout and earned the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. [7]

After attending school in nearby Camden, Sessions studied at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. He was active in the Young Republicans and was student body president.[8] Sessions attended the University of Alabama School of Law and graduated with his J.D. in 1973.[9]

Sessions entered private practice in Russellville and later in Mobile,[10] where he now lives.[11] He also served in the Army Reserve in the 1970s, achieving the rank of captain.[10]

Sessions and his wife Mary have three children and six grandchildren.[12]
