S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley tapped to be Trump’s U.N. ambassador

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a rising Republican star and daughter of Indian immigrants, has accepted President-elect Donald Trump’s offer to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in the coming administration, according to a person familiar with the selection process.

The move, which will be announced Wednesday morning, was first reported by the Post and Courier , comes as Trump advisers are seeking to diversify his ranks and marks his first female appointment to a cabinet-level post.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a decision that has not yet been announced by Trump’s transition team.

Haley, 44, who is serving her second term, has worked on trade and labor issues as governor but brings little foreign policy experience. Her views on various U.S. military and national security matters usually fall within the GOP’s hawkish mainstream.

Trump met with Haley last Thursday at Trump Tower in New York as part of the round of meetings the president-elect has held.

If confirmed, Haley would be replaced by South Carolina’s Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster, a top Trump ally. His ascension is seen inside of Trump’s inner circle as a welcome consequence of her departure, the person said — a way to promote them both.

LOL. A former UN ambassador will never win the republican nomination.
*********
In a few years she’ll become a US Senator with a lot of powerful friends made in NY.

Was she born in the USA?

I was thinking about Romney and other Trump critics.

Trump hasn’t empowered Romney yet, or any other globalists. He may never ‘empower,’ them; at this point we don’t know. So far it’s just Haley, which is why I wondered when you imagine she’ll become POTUS. She’s an anchor baby.

I am sure that there are some on FR who will argue day and night that she is a natural born American citizen.

Feckup and move up. OTOH, sucks to be Lindsey Graham with a Trump ally running the state now.

Not certain Haley as a UN Ambassador is a sure fire recipe for success, but the R Establishment loved her. And some perfunctory kumbiya seems to be guiding the day on some of these painful considerations and appointments.

I remind myself, however, none could be worse than the last eight years filled with anti-American hordes in high places.

Florida is loaded with Indian doctors and specialists. I have a number of them and they are good!. I was surprised to find they were all for Trump, though they were strictly discreet in showing it, of course.

I was surprised because every one of them was originally an immigrant to this country, but evidently the Indians don't wear this fact like a hair-shirt as do some other ethnic groups.

Wearing my red Trump hat caused them to guardedly open up a little to me during the presidential race. Believe it or not, at the end of one of my appointments, my more-openly-Trump Indian doctor stood up, gently removed my MAGA cap, put it on HIS head and literally strutted me clear out to the check-out receptionist......much to the delight of his nurses and staff and also to the five or six folks sitting in the waiting-room who gave him a lusty round of applause.

I think one of the reasons Trump put Gov Haley in the UN is b/c Donald wanted his guy in the Governor’s chair.

Yes, I read that was the case, to my surprise, that the new governor was a Trump man.
