Officials in the Obama administration threw cold water on the effort to recount votes in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania on Friday.
The effort was spearheaded by Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who echoed arguments that Russia may have hacked US voting machines to interfere with the outcome of the November 8 election.
A statement from the Obama administration cited by The New York Times acknowledged that the Kremlin likely expected the hacking of some Democratic Party entities in the run-up to Election Day to raise questions about the voting process and the legitimacy of President-elect Donald Trump's victory.
"Nevertheless, we stand behind our election results, which accurately reflect the will of the American people," the statement read.
Speculation that electronic voting machines could be hacked has largely been debunked, primarily because the machines are not connected to the internet.
Stein contended that this was a "hack-riddled election," that warrants a second look at the votes. Trump won by thin margins in the three states Stein aims to contest.
The Green Party sought to raise $7 million to fund the recount. Fundraising surpassed the $5 million mark on Friday. For her part, Stein only received one percent of the vote nationally.
Election officials in Wisconsin accepted a recount petition on Friday and announced that the effort was underway....

Obama wants mercy from Trump
I can't imagine what more could be done to stop shenanigans. Anybody could check that posted tally with the tally from the memory stick when it got downtown.
Unless there's a way that the memory stick could've been pre-hacked to throw a certain percentage of votes to another candidate, it looked pretty well guarded. That would be risky since the paper ballots are locked in a secure, guarded container. The only way to improve it would be a Back to the Future move. When I was a young voter, those ballots were hand counted at the precinct with anyone who wanted to do so watching.
With these paper ballots, a hand count would be possible, but at this point who knows how secure those ballots have been?
FWIW, I'm glad I worked as a county poll worker for election day. It's nice to have been part of the process first hand. One soon realizes that greater safeguards lead to greater complexity and that doesn't solve any more problems than it creates. The only solution is an honest respect for the importance of the integrity of elections, and we're a long way from there.
JMHO....my mind is using the keyboard to get these thoughts in place.
But we would precisely know what precincts have each and every “dead” voter.
The reason Obama is doing this is he wants to be the HEAD of the Dem Party so he can come out every 10 minutes to tell the media what Trump is doing wrong.
Every hour of every day Obama is planning to insert himself into the everyday life of everyone just like he has been for the last 8 years.
He will make life as miserable for Trump and for real Americans as he can; the protests will continue and get worse; all blamed on Trump. This is his goal. He cares zero about Hillary or the Dem Party. It is all about him.
He will try all this - pray the grassroots people will not permit it to go on.

I figured Obama would be the ring leader in the recount effort after blaming Putin.
She already paid? I only read that she was GOING TO pay but hadn't paid yet. I also read that she expects to receive about $7 million of Soros secret funneled money. My guess is Stein will go pay the initial Wisconsin fee but then slow ball everything else and keep the difference to score at least $3 million for herself.
Maybe she will say the Wisconsin recount will confirm that the election system worked so no need to recount MI and PA.

Obama and Stein are playing good cop bad cop on this. Trump should not trust Obama. Trump needs to put his attorneys together and do it quick.
Wisconsin is only getting costs together from what I read. The recount starts when she pays the costs and must be done by 12/13.
Since the PA deadline to ask for a recount has passed and election outcome will not change fact Trump will be next President, what is the real purpose of this smoke screen action by Jill?

Some contend that Soros is the person who is really providing the money needed for the recounts in these states, and that it is not a grassroots operation at all..
Also put forth is that this is a familiar tactic used by Democrats to steal elections in the past at various levels of government.
I don’t think president soon-to-be-out-of-a-job is too thrilled to see a recount; Team Trump has immediately responded with recount efforts in the states Hillary won.
Don’t think Obunghole’s too anxious to see this turn into even more of a TOTAL landslide rout when Rat fraud in those states is exposed.
