I was on a group tour including people from both coasts about 6 weeks before the election. They were of course all libs and because I had no desire to engage in their political conversations, one of them actually smirked at lunch one day and said, “Isn’t it funny how everybody on this trip is a Democrat?”
That’s how they live their lives, assuming the trip was an extension of their “circle”.
Whoever you are do not marry this woman. Seriously. You will live to regret it.

Many years ago, around the Passover table at my Brooklyn Jewish liberal In laws house, my father quoted Bill Clinton during a heated conversation and said,”it’s the economy stupid.” My wife’s cousin thought he was talking about her and a melee ensued. My father was disinvited from ever again going to my in laws for Passover dinner.
My parents were insulted and left, very angry. I am sitting there in shock. My in laws turn to me and start bashing conservatives like my parents for their lack of intellect. My wife is looking at me knowing what was about to happen and knowing there was nothing she could do about it.
And then I struck. “If Hitler was a Democrat you would vote for him.” My in laws didn’t talk to me for 10 years. Several years back my wife’s family implemented a no politics policy at holiday dinners. They say it’s for my protection. I say it was for their protection.

That must have been excruciating! You have my sympathy for having been subjected to such torture, but also my kudos for being strong enough to endure it.

Liberals love groupthink. Its the only thing that reinforces their false convictions.
1. I have no problem with this. For one thing, we are supposed to have freedom of assembly and be able to choose with whom we associate. That is their choice. Also, I imagine quite a few conservatives cut liberals from their lives after 0vomit was elected or would have after Hitlery was elected.
2. I have chosen not to cut all liberals out of my life. Only one who was an insufferable bully and with whom there could be no conversation because he never shut up. For the rest, I choose to educate them. Some by having rational discussions, and others by setting an example of how a conservative behaves. the fact that I am both conservative and “nice” just about makes some heads explode. In their warped world, that is an impossibility.
I don’t have enough time in my life for the people I deeply care about and where the feeling is mutual. Just not enough hours in the day.
So why should I mourn a “friend” or family member who wishes me out of their life over something as petty as politics? Heck, I would be tempted send them a thank you note.
Funny you mention that. Last week my oldest boy is in the Marine Corps based out in CA,a nd got leave for the first time since being there.
He met a girl, a young woman who attends college. He said he asked if she wanted to meet up later for dinner, a bit like a date.
She said yes, and they met.
He said within the first half hour she brought up politics , and her liberal views. He told me he quickly left without being rude,and she wanted to drive him back to base, to which he declined. She texted him later that night asking if they could meet, and he never did.
The young woman he said was good looking, but could never go with someone who is way out there, and feels she has to push her political views on the first date.
I told him that the problem is that she was born out there, she was raised out there, she goes to college out there, and so she thinks everyone is like her and her friends she grew up with.
I asked him if he tried to correct her as apparently she was coming out with all sorts of fake facts, to which he told me what was the point , she was so far gone that she could never understand anything outside her realm of life.
Yes! That’s why I had no desire to talk back to them and ruin my trip, it would have been a waste of breath!
And YOUR story reminds me of an immigrant friend I have, came to this country to live the American dream, took him 7 yrs to get citizenship, got married and divorced, now can’t find any conservative women to date - same type of thing. The women have no idea they would be labeled “liberal”.
Exactly. But I actually got rid of them first because I no longer could tolerate their stupidity quite frankly.
The left has had 40 years of Saul Alinisky intolerance, name calling conservatives while claiming THEY are the tolerant ones.
I would say that while they CLAIM they are tolerant, of race, sexual preference or religion, that THEY are only tolerant to the point of being skin deep, and are NOT tolerant of other’s beliefs when diametrically opposed to their socialistic agenda, regardless of how history has played that game. I have had many friends and family alienate me and my conservative friends just because of the fact we don’t agree with them. While conservatives have had to try to tolerate other very vocal views and cary on relationships for about four decades now.
Liberals are only tolerant skin deep.
Conservatives are tolerant to the bone.
