One reason this gambit will backfire is that it give lots of ammunition and talking points to the effort to enact ballot security measures like: voter ID; cleaning up the voter rolls; voting machine security; amendment or repeal of "motor voter"; and others.
In other words, it's bad for Democrats and good for Republicans.

Fortunately, Newt took over after the 1994 election and was provided a Republican congress. The first two years of Clinton were unmitigated disaster.
I suspect, however, you would be right about Bill being a better president than Hill, if I really had to choose. It would be sort of like deciding whether you’d rather be thrown off the roof or the thirteenth floor.
I think the real reason for all the recounts is for the Dems to find out HOW many votes they lost by & WHERE. They didn’t do enough cheating to win, so they have to refine their game plan.
