We should never have recognized mainland China. The chicoms have been actively working on taking over Taiwan through political (and eventual military) means. How can we let that happen? Just leave Taiwan to be eventually and inevitably absorbed by mainland China? It will happen if we don’t do something about it.

First, Trump did not place the call, the President of Taiwan did. Most news sites are not pointing this out, they seem to be implying that Trump did, and playing it as a gross mistake by an incompetent political beginner.

The media forgets that it was customary for American Presidents to talk calls from the Taiwan leadership until Jimmy Carter switched the protocol in order to curry favor with China. Trump is just reinstating the original protocol.
