Obama orders review of cyber attacks on 2016 election: adviser

U.S. President Barack Obama ordered intelligence agencies to review cyber attacks and foreign intervention into the 2016 election and deliver a report before he leaves office on Jan. 20, homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco said on Friday.

Monaco told reporters the results of the report would be shared with lawmakers and others.

"The president has directed the intelligence community to conduct a full review of what happened during the 2016 election process ... and to capture lessons learned from that and to report to a range of stakeholders, to include the Congress," Monaco said during an event hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

Monaco said cyber attacks were not new but might have crossed a "new threshold" this year.

When she was working as a senior FBI official in 2008, she said, the agency alerted the presidential campaigns of then-Senator Obama and Republican Senator John McCain that China had infiltrated their respective systems.

That’s an alternative theory, one that I didn’t see. It’s likely played from both ends: Russkies bashed Hillary; Russkies publicized puff pieces about Donald.

I frankly don’t know; on the other hand if lefties are frustrated that righties aren’t paying any more attention to ABC and the like, maybe they might want to push for these agencies not to be so blatantly biased. Even RECOGNIZING that there is a “righty side” to a political argument would go a long way... like having a feature called “View from the Right” or something similar. It won’t be a perfect view. No view on earth can quite be completely perfect. But it could help both lefties and righties to understand more about one another’s concerns.

Statistics on this election ought to tell them that they may have shamed the Donald Trump vote close to many people’s vests, but it still was cast.

What War Powers will John McCain and Lindsey Graham want to give Obama to go after the Russians for this fake news?

It’s not “brains” but wisdom that is the issue here — the thing that tells us the best thing to do with what “brains” we have.

And Obama seems neither a genius nor an idiot from a simple I.Q. point of view. He seems to be a person with a vastly misused mind.

I’d actually tend to think yes, Russkies did add a voice to this election, however it was one of the saner voices that they have shown in a long time. If by cyber attacks they mean a whispering campaign, that would probably turn out to be the case. On the other hand, with the 1st amendment being what it is, there would be a very steep hurdle against any legal obstacle to it (this principle is also what eventually caused McCarthyism to meet its demise).

If something is going to come from Russia, it might as well come with love, rather than with hate. Maybe it wasn’t entirely in vain that Putin went around on horseback wearing the cross. Maybe this was symbolic for something that God was doing through a more and more willing Putin; maybe that was the soul that George W. Bush thought he saw. The cross carries a spirit of brave sacrifice for the sake of bringing goodness. Russia gave up the USSR, which it could have tried to keep but didn’t. I think I foresee that Russia could well put its own skin in the game for the sake of fighting radical Islam, which virtually the whole western world is recognizing as a pernicious evil.

Fake news. No way can fedgov do a report in less than 6 weeks.

You can if you're just making it up.

History channel ran a good special on this a couple of years ago with good detail and graphics showing the shipping routes and CIA distribution points on the Turkey/Syria border. Interesting that DOD forgot to mention that the weapons were shipped to Turkey. Guess they didn’t want any questions about the Turkish Envoy that was meeting with the Ambassador just before he was killed.

It seems that everyone in the Middle East knew that “Muslim John” and the Brotherhood were running a Syrian war from the Benghazi CIA complex except for Hillary.

So, two Republicans are ticked that Russia helped get a Republican elected. The route used was Russia Today and directly hacking votes in machines or on the Internet.

However, the most salient discrepancies in votes to date are in the middle of Detroit in precincts that went 99% for Hillary.

This is the world in which we live.

Mess with their minds. Tell them that FR runs Russian software now! (It actually does... since the failed Mitt bid, which generated so much traffic that the old site management software could not keep up.)

That is a philosophy issue, not an “intelligence” issue. As psychologists understand it, intelligence is something that is cross cultural. Methods of measuring it from neurological tests have been devised with more or less success.

Anyhow, Barack Obama believes in stupid things, and has believed in stupid things since he was young. Will he forever believe in stupid things? I don’t know. I have no inkling about that. My prayer is that he won’t, though. Like the Negro College Fund (?) used to say, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

One would think that they would have tried to pry notoriously blue states away from Hillary.

But again maybe they did, but by means of supporting pro-Trump advertising. I doubt they did a single thing to the actual votes, because that would be as radioactive as hell. However, they know America prizes the 1st Amendment as far as freedom of speech goes.

yep.

Remember, no peaceful protests if anything happens.

I’m headed to one of several states I’ve been invited to in case of treason.

I’d rather not, but won’t have a choice.
