‘I Think You May Be Coming Undone, Kurt’: MSNBC Contributor’s Bizarre Carlson Show Appearance
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/16/2016 6:21:34 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Regular Legal Insurrection readers will recognize the name Kurt Eichenwald. A senior writer at Newsweek [which apparently still exists], Eichenwald is a frequent guest on Joy Reid’s MSNBC show, where he can be counted on to spout virulently anti-Republican/Trump views. We’ve chronicled, as here and here, his predilection to burst into disdainful laughter in the face of conservative interlocutors.

On MSNBC, Eichenwald’s odd nature had been sheltered in a comfortable cocoon. But on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show of Thursday evening, Eichenwald’s deep weirdness was exposed.

The meltdown came when Carlson pressed Eichenwald to answer a simple question: is it true, as Eichenwald had tweeted, that Donald Trump had been confined to a mental institution in 1990? Rather than answer the question, Eichenwald went off on a variety of tangents, including the stunt of hauling out a big binder he had created of Carlson’s supposed “falsehoods.”

Tucker is amazingly good at showing these drones up, and he keeps smiling while he does it.

“I want to know what his secret message from the CIA was.”

There was none, that’s why he gave the long-winded soliloquy about “these brave men walking by a wall at the CIA full of ...blah blah blah” at the end.

He knows the segment was almost over, and that he just needed to filibuster.

Eichenwald's Twitter meltdown following the show was even better.

"My new favorite Fox show."

Agree.
Talk about finding an opening and running with it - Tucker is killing it!

I couldn’t do it.

I would have to curse these people out and just lose my job.

I’ve noticed that, to some degree, this is what many of the guests do on Tucker’s show, just not as blatant as this. They don’t answer the question but go off on totally unrelated tangents and don’t stop talking. Much of the time is spent with Tucker and his guest talking over each other.

I have never heard of this guy before. That is the craziest thing I have ever heard! This guy is nuts!

In classic crazy Liberal style, the guy kept saying “you won’t let me answer, you won’t let me answer” and then when given the opportunity to answer he went off on a rambling tangent and DIDN’T ANSWER THE QUESTION.

It is clear that he had no intentions of answering the question.

I truly love this type of exchange since it show how extreme Liberals are. They live their lives day in and day out in an echo chamber and never have to justify and explain themselves. When they do have to explain themselves, they go off on a nonsensical rant.

The best guests are the college snowflakes and professors. He lets them talk, then gently reminds them how stupid they are. This guy was just a loon with his stealth medical records and super secret CIA messages. And he works for Newsweek. I need no further proof that the LSM is dead.

Kurt Eichenwald has a history of dubious ethics.

When he was with the New York Times in 2005 or so, he violated journalistic ethics by paying the subject of a piece on underage porn--a young man who performed via webcam--at least $2K.

The Times was furious--he never told them, and you just don't pay sources for info. Not if you're a real journalist.

It later came out that Eichenwald probably paid the young man even more.

Here's a link to a Slate article from 2007. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/press_box/2007/03/eichenwalds_weird_checkbook_journalism.html

Thanks for the info.

I wonder whether after this latest episode, MSNBC will rethink having this obviously disturbed man as a regular contributor. I’d say it’s even odds that they double down on him!

He reminds me most of Nathan Thurm.

"I know that. Why would you think I wouldn't know that. I know that. I never said that. Yes, I did, but why would you say I said that?"

That was not a regular tie. They told Tucker to get rid of the bow-ties, so he bought the ugliest regular ties he could.
