Missouri Department of Transportation not deicing Interstate highways - what's up?

Tonight driving home - very thin layer of ice on I-64 (Highway 40). No traction. Traffic jammed. Slipping and sliding at 10 miles per hour. NOT A SALT TRUCK IN SIGHT. I-70 from Columbia to St. Louis was arguably the worst stretch of road in the nation, with crashes, closings, backups of many hours.

Yet MO Highway 141 was deiced. County roads were deiced. Even my podunk street had large chunks of salt on it, just like in the old days.

I noticed something like this before in the last couple of years. What the hell is up? Anybody know? Is it just more incompetency from Jay Nixon? Corruption? EPA?????

No canned whip cream?

Communism.

Nitrous oxide, eh.....

Those drag racers will be going a lot slower but I’ll have my warm cocoa with canned whip cream.

The Snake and the Mongoose better beware the blueunicorn!

My niece slid off the road a mile from her parent’s home in Wentzville. Car is still in the ditch. She said there’s a woman going into labor on 70 and medics can’t get to her. A pedestrian was just struck by 364 and there are no available units. Firefighters are transporting people.

Parts of 67 were closed because of so many accidents. My son works in Fredericktown & lives in Farmington (about 17 miles). He sat in his car for nearly 3 hours. Fortunately, he always keeps water, snacks & a blanket in his car. They had not salted there either.....

MoDot is getting an ear full on Twitter.

Maybe they got some watered-down chemicals?

Yuppie a$$holes and and foreign high school (aka Indian universities) sit around in meetings sipping their tea and determine what the future shall be for the rest of us.

When reality hits, they are clueless.

Not to mention Shaunda.

> Later, Shaunda White, a different spokeswoman for the agency, said the department had pretreated roads before noon, but tried “to play catch up” to continue salting roads as conditions worsened throughout the day. She added that when temperatures reach below a certain point, extra steps have to be taken to ensure salt sticks.

Complete and utter bullshit. The temperature was barely below freezing. They did not CHECK THEIR WORK. They do not understand “reality check.”

“Salt might harm the plant life near the highway, humans be damned.”

Based on all the snow wrecks in Portland this week that is the city’s official policy.

Heard on 10:00 p, news that I29 north of Dearborn, had been shut down, stating some drivers had been stuck for up to seven (7) hours!

No mention of not treating interstate highway but with Obama still in charge, I'm not shocked.
