I haven’t been to that airport. Can you enter the baggage claim area without going through TSA screening?

Trying to recall but I believe at both LAX and Seattle-Tacoma airports, which I’ve most recently been to, you have to go through TSA first.

Up to now, in Californicator North, you can do that. Sac’s airport has acres of uncovered parking close to the baggage area.

You could park close and can walk up to and into the baggage claim area with no security to get in or once you are in.

International arrivals claim baggage in a secure area then exit past Customs officers to a public access meeting and pick up area. For domestic arrivals just about anyone can pull up in a car as if to pick up an arriving passenger and walk into the carousel area. It would be a major pain if that was changed, but overreaction to these incidents has been the norm for the last fifty plus years, ever since hijacking started in the sixties. Flying used to be a pleasurable experience. Now it’s a gauntlet and certainly something the terrorists take pride in “achieving”.

Baggage claim is outside the TSA screening area.

I don’t remember having to do any screening for baggage, ever anywhere. I’ve only used that FTL airport once.
