Thanks for the post. The original version of the story left out a lot of background, leading to confusion and speculation. The re-write added to the confusion, and made some of us look like fools.

The original version of the story omitted key facts. It failed to mention that the general had previously submitted his resignation as a matter of protocol because of the upcoming change in administrations, and that the Trump transition team had signaled the Obama administration to accept the resignation.

The original version left the impression that the general was utterly befuddled as to why he had suddenly been "fired," and confused the issue about whether it was the incoming or outgoing administration that was responsible.

Not knowing this, some us concluded - erroneously, I think - that Obama might have "fired" the guy to throw a bit more confusion into security preparations for the inauguration.

This guy played one up man ship with the Pentagon. He is no longer protected by obama, they wanted him out.

I think you are correct, although my contact with the Guard dates back to 1967, with no current information. I understand he is a minority. That would explain a lot, but not everything. He seems to have been diligent in doing the things needed for promotion. I'm a little connected to Central Michigan University through my daughter and their programs have made Central a new power not just in Michigan but nationwide. Their growth has been exponential. Interesting situation.

Rush warned today....the media is going to be going full steam ahead against Trump. Remember how much they hated Reagan and went after him? That was a lot of years ago and things are much more vicious and dishonest now.

That’s an odd thing to put out there, unless they are concerned about a hit.

I’ll see if I can get Socks C. out of retirement. He can still catch a few rats.

“Looks like the current version is mostly a rearrangement of the version you linked from the wayback machine. I think most of the new material is in the old version but in a different order.”

either you didn’t read the two carefully or you used my erroneous original post link.

the wayback link (original story) from this morning is:

https://web.archive.org/web/20170113200317/https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/commanding-general-of-dc-national-guard-to-be-removed-from-post/2017/01/13/725a0438-d99e-11e6-b8b2-cb5164beba6b_story.html

the current story link is:

they are VASTLY different!

Trump couldn’t fire him

Sounds like a sissy little hissy fit of Obama’s to try to mess up the security at the inauguration.

I think they are just letting everyone know that if one of them dies with the excuses noted (or for any reason,) it was murder.

Smart move, many leftists/Soros types etc want wikileaks to die.

Don’t know, as I’ve never heard of or used that. I have used archive.is and it is really easy to use, and has the benefit that it’s not something I have to save to my computer and then upload somewhere else, it archives it and hosts it also.

He is 65 and that is mandatory retirement age, or close to it I think.

Back in the 1968, Jimmy Stewart (the actor) had to retire from the Air Force Reserve as a Brigadier General when he reached mandatory retirement age of 60. Maybe the National Guard allows folks to serve older than 60 via waiver.

Thanks here’s some direct screen capture links, as it was a bit tricky (to say the least) to access the Google Docs link you posted, even on a PC. At least for me it was.

These are screen captures of the WP story as it now stands, and doesn’t show any evidence of rewriting. Screen captures made since (as you said) the WP may add such a note later, but the Wayback Machine won’t capture the story as it stands now without the note of rewrite.

No my comments were universal. Any member of the national guard can be removed at any time by the chain of command for practically any reason.

It’s more prevalent at the O6 and above ranks where a new governor usually means a new AG. It can also mean a raft of new O6s.

I had a ‘problem child’ 2LT. Not a bad guy, just incompetent. My Bn Cdr asked my opinion on promotion and I told him I could not recommend him for promotion. He was discharged that afternoon.

At least in Alabama where I served, there was little favoritism or political influence. I found the NG to be more professional than the active duty units. The power to discharge can be used to remove incompetence or to reward favorites. In Alabama it worked well.

I’ve been in the DC area for the last 29 years and most of that connected with the US Army. I’ve never heard about him. I’ll have to ask one of my folks who is in the DC Army National Guard about him. The DC ARNG is seldom in the news here, usually during the winter snow storms or “the DC ARNG Band is performing....”

the “Adjutant General” is the key position in state National Guard organizations and has a political element to it in that the AG is appointed by the state govenor.

I take this as a manufactured publicity by the Anti-Trump forces & Dems of a normal function during a change of presidents, wherein the new president accepted the resignation. No one seems to be complaining that Ms. Lynch, Mr. Kerry, and the remainder of the cabinet officers are also being “fired” at 12:01 pm on Jan 20.

On reflection, the is the way I have come to see it. Thanks for the response, and for your service.

Your welcome. And, with all seriousness, I never probably would have seen so much of Germany and Western Europe without the support of taxpayers like you. At least my time there was spent in a Cold War, rather than a Hot War that many of your and my relations were sent to Europe, and other places during WWII.

Thanks for posting this.

A few of us saw through the bs of the original Compost fake news and posted that Trump can and will be replacing Obozo’s political appointments in DC and across the land.

Too many to a few freepers tend to over react when the mediot put out fake news as with this example and urine gate.
