Trump hangs portrait of Andrew Jackson in Oval Office

President Trump hung a portrait of Andrew Jackson in the Oval Office on Tuesday, The New York Times reports, an apparent nod to the populist sentiments of the new administration.

Trump's rise has often been compared to the populist election of Jackson, including by some of the new president's own team.

Chief White House strategist Steve Bannon called Trump’s inauguration speech on Friday “Jacksonian,” saying it struck the populist and patriotic tones Jackson was known for.

Trump hangs portrait of Andrew Jackson in Oval Office

This bodes well. I certainly hope Trump takes a Jacksonian approach to much of the government's involvement with the Banking/Money Industries.

Haven’t seen that in any of mine, not yet at least. Do have a legend of being descended from Opechancanough, Powhatan’s half brother, in one of my lines.

I once worked with an old couple from Western North Carolina. His name was Allen Jackson and he was a preacher. I once mentioned to his wife Bonnie that he looked just like Andrew Jackson.

She told me that when they were first married, they took a vacation trip to Tallahassee, Florida. In the Capitol was a portrait of Andrew Jackson who was once Governor of Florida.

She told me it looked just like her husband. They had no idea if they were actually related.

Years ago, my group had invited a speaker who was a descendant of Thomas Paine. He gave his speech on Thomas Paine's philosophies and our current situation in politics, and at the end of his speech he pulled out a portrait of Thomas Paine and said that a lot of people told him he resembled it.

Looking back and forth between him and the portrait I had to say that he did indeed look exactly like the man in the portrait.

The man of which you speak may very well be a descendant of Andrew Jackson.

Ugh. Jackson, father of the ‘rat party. Instituted the corrupt “spoils system.”

Terrible choice.

After watching FedGov offices be weaponized by the Democrats against us, I now see a lot of merit in the "spoils system."

The current "civil service" system has left us with a Federal Government that is now 80% Democrat. 80% of all Federal Employees are Democrats.

What we have is a terrible choice. The "spoils system" may be a bad choice, but it looks to me to be better than what we have now. The current system just keeps empowering and entrenching more and more Democrats into positions of power and authority.

Many Empires, or Nation State’s go through Definitive changes that defiantly have a Demarkation Line in History.
Where Trump fall’s will be very interesting.

Obama’s favorite portrait of Mao?

Even worse, Obamas favorite picture of himself.

I read the idea of the fifth republic initiation. While reading my mind immediately went to illegal immigration from the south and non-vetted immigrants from the middle east as the driving issue.

I would have liked to say abortion was the catalyst but I can’t. I just hope something is done to stop the deaths of so many innocents and that the ghouls (grave robbers=body parts) of planned parenthood are sent to prison.

The recognition of, now five, foundational changes to our republic through time is an interesting subject.

After they are done giving Harriet Tubman some time on the $20 bill, perhaps Trump can take the spot as the “new” Andrew Jackson.

Don’t ride Trump too hard on this, Jackson was a Democrat.

My only advice to Trump is to cut a better deal with the Injuns.

Illegal immigration, like slavery before it, will probably one of the underlying issues.

But it takes a kinetic act to provide political capital. Fort Sumter, Pearl Harbor and 911 are the kind of kinetic acts of which I am speaking.

I suspect the Social Justice Warriors will team up with the Muslim extremists for a campaign of domestic terror such as that experienced in the Seventies by Germany, Italy, Uruguay and Argentina. That may lead to the Second Civil War with a draconian federal response.

Jackson not only paid off the national debt, he successfully defeated attempts to renew the charter of the Second Bank of the United States. That ended private central banking and restored sovereign money in the U.S. until the Federal Reserve was established in 1913.

A good omen, to be sure.

How did the federal Govt balance the budget and pay its bills up to 1913? Tariffs.

Jackson is a good choice BUT he was the guy who organized the Democratic Party as we know it today. He was a dynamic man and proved popular in his reformation of the nation and keeping down southern attempts at session. When he discovered one of his people was having an affair with a local widow—he called them into the White House and ordered they get married at once! The newspapers of the day hated Jackson and took it out on his wife. Only the Cherokee suffered under him—but they suffered big time in the murderous “Trail of Tears” west to “Indian Territory”. (No wonder they fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War after they way they were treated by the US Government).

Crockett opposed Jackson’s Indian removal policy, which was carried out under “Little Old Van”.

Jackson is a mixed bag for me but I like his style, especially like his handling of the nullification crisis, modern day parallel with states that refuse to enforce immigration law and the 2nd amendment.
