Stop toying with it. Start doing it.

The administration would be seeking to "deny admission to any alien who is likely to become a public charge" and develop standards for “determining” whether an immigrant can be deported after five years if that person receives a certain amount of public assistance, ...

Oh please, yes, yes, yes! But why wait five years?

Uh, the last time I checked, you CHOOSE what immigrants you want so you will pick those who will assimilate and become part of building the country. Bringing in a bunch of welfare types that won’t assimilate (and would rather wear their burka) ... does nothing for the country.

Might as well do it now cause the left can’t get anymore pissed off...

Trump is a genius! I think this is what he intended, hit them with everything all at once and make the leftists scramble trying to figure out what to protest on. Throw as much as possible out there to piss them off and get it over with.

During these protests against temporarily ceasing immigration from seven particularly named countries, many are again referring to Ellis Island days, and supposed open invitations to the whole world to send their "huddled masses," etc.

So, . . . during the Ellis Island, "send your huddled masses" days, what public benefit programs were in place to sustain new immigrants for years and years?

As I understand that era, immigrants came knowing full-well that they would have to sink or swim on their own without public assistance.

The contrast between immigration at the turn of the 20th century and that of today is just too large to make it legitimate for open-borders leftists to appeal to that era at all for their justifications

>> “households headed by aliens are much more likely than those headed by citizens to use federal means-tested public benefits,” another claim The Washington Post noted is not supported by evidence.

I have read a LOT of statistics that DO support this claim. Why can the WaComPost not find those stats? I say their claim that it is not supported by evidence is not supported by evidence.

Hopefully he follows through.

As for building the wall itself I think Mexico should only pay half and then take all the money pulled back from sanctuary cities and pay for the other half just to piss off the liberal left even more.

It used to be that no immigrant was allowed in the U.S. without a sponsor that guaranteed the immigrant would not be on the public dole.

An exception was made for refugees, to accommodate people fleeing communism, when only a very few managed to escape. It has been expanded into a major source of immigrants. That must stop!

Agree.

My guess is we’d hear more lies about how that is so rare (like illegal voting, etc.) They would then parade around exactly one case where someone joined the military and died in service as if this were typical.

When I was looking into a visa for India, they definitely require a sponsor, and even for the tourist visa they questioned you about how much money you had with you for your stay.

I cannot believe this is "controversial".

It is just common sense.

It's the same for Canada and Australia, and a lot of other countries.

No job? No money? Nothing to contribute to our country?

Sorry, mate, can't take ya.

What kind of stupid policy would let just any mooch or leech into their country without question?

Saw a guy (Mark Hetfield) on Tucker’s show last night who runs an outfit called HIAS. What a jerk... Tucker is so nice to these people when you know he’d like to choke them. I have never heard of this outfit and probably a good thing.

The guy told him that they are paid $2,075 for every person (?) or family (?) admitted to this country on the refugee program - and that pays for their RENT, FOOD, DOCTORS, LEARNING ENGLISH etc. He said, “You try paying for rent and food out of THAT.” He didn’t clarify if it was a one time deal, a monthly sum or what and I think at that point, Tucker had just given up trying to get a straight answer out of him. The organization was founded in 1881 and the sum total of people helped is 4.5 million people? 135 years and that’s the total helped?

“”HIAS (formerly Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) is an American charitable organization founded in response to the late 19th- and early 20th-century exodus of Jewish emigrants from Imperial Russia. The organization assists Jews and other groups of people whose lives and freedom are believed to be at risk to relocate. Since its inception, HIAS has helped resettle nearly 4.5 million people.””
