The obvious reason Ginsberg didn’t retire during Obama’s tenure is that she didn’t trust Obama’s selection ability.

I suspect she has insider knowledge that proves to her that he is an anti-Semite.

IIRC she threatened to move to New Zealand if Trump won.

NZ will accept you as permanent resident if you are a senior with $10.5 Million to bring with and can speak ENglish. RBG can qualify on that basis. I would encourage her to go to NZ.

I played with too many frogs in my childhood years, and snails are oh so slimy and repulsive to me. I can stay away until we run out of shrimp, mutton and Bombay Ducks (eel like fish).

I have no knowledge whatsoever about Thomas’s health, but obesity (statistically) shortens the life expectancy of black men very significantly.

Excellent point! Also my guess is she believed all the polls and was certain madam president would find another RBG clone.

OK I believe you, depending who makes the soup. Since Kale is a sea weed (?) and we are land mammals, our constitution may not be in sync with kale. Anyways next time I see it on menu in a good restaurant, I will try it.

Yeah, obesity is statistically known to cause high blood pressure in African-American men.

There is no better thing than regular mild exercise for any septuagenarians, such as myself, to stay healthy and out of doctor’s office.

I also found I can control my border line type II diabetes by limiting my food intake during a 8-9 hour span every day.

Exactly. I think she bet on Hillary, but I think she would rather a republican selection than an anti-semitic one.

...she will stay on as long as she's able to make it to her office and sit erect in the banc during SCOTUS hearings....without falling asleep.

I doubt that last part is a requirement. When they wake her up to vote, she just has to remember to ask how Thomas voted and then do the opposite.

What is kale?

It's some sort of strange green leaf they eat in Leftcuckistan, apparently. I'm guessing that this "kale" must be more affordable than arugula since all the food desert denizens are advocating it.

Is she staying low-stress? What is she reading? Is she reading low-stress things?"

Says the snowflake, demonstrating her profound ignorance of the job of Justice of the Supreme Court.

Which is why I am not thrilled by lifetime appointments for judges or any for that matter.
The current circumstance of a POTUS who got elected on the basis that he would nominate a SCOTUS justice from a defined list is unique.

Having now nominated a justice according to his campaign promise, the president has a serious claim that the country is behind his choice.

I have long thought that that is exactly how SCOTUS justices should be selected. Every presidential election, each presidential candidate should publish a “Trump list” of candidates from which his/her SCOTUS choices will be made. After the election, the winner gets to name two justices from his/her list. These justices would not be subject to Senate confirmation but would be sworn onto the court directly, and they would serve for the fixed term of 22 years.

The court would have an eleven-jurist bench. Each two-term POTUS would thus leave a legacy of four SCOTUS justices, out of eleven total.

To transition to the fixed-term-justice system, new SCOTUS members would be latent if not enough “life” justices had died or retired yet to make room for the newcomers. “Latent” SCOTUS members would become actual SCOTUS members on a seniority basis, and their 22 year term would then begin. “Latent” members would automatically be installed on an appeals court, but could step up to temporary active SCOTUS status as needed to maintain eleven voting justices whenever a justice recused him/her self from a case. A sitting justice with “life” tenure could recuse for personal reasons if willing to see the “latent” replacement fill his/her seat temporarily, but any service in temporary capacity would count against the 22 year term of said justice.

IMHO that would be a far more predictable, less chaotic way of maintaining the institution of SCOTUS than what we have now. If it were already enshrined in the Constitution, would there be the slightest inclination to reform it toward the system we have now? I doubt it. As matters now stand, a politically unified government without a senate filibuster might at any time pack SCOTUS by increasing its size (not now constitutionally stipulated).
