RAF top guns scrambled to intercept two nuclear-capable Russian bombers as they flew menacingly towards Britain this morning.
Vladimir Putins Blackjack bombers flew within Britains area of interest but did not enter UK airspace.
The show of sabre-rattling comes just one day after Vlad ordered his air force to be ready for a time of war.
The planes are believed to have flown down the coast of Norway before passing the west coast of Ireland at around 11:30am.
Russia was gonna bomb England? That’s bigly!
I wish the Russian people would rid themselves of this termite.
Had it be shot down I hope they wouldnt have woken up Trump...
This is not even newsworthy. The US and Russia fly surveillance flights around each other's points of interest routinely. It has been going on for decades.
Heroes?
Oh come on...
They are testing GB just as they tested us with Obama in office. The Brits did the right thing and Vlad got the message. If it happens to America again Vlad will certainly get the message from Trump.
We have postured too in the past. It signals that MEN are in charge again. Thank God for a real president again.
I coupled it with Putin evidently telling his pilots to prepare for war. That’s obviously what our military service people do, but to say it in public is rather provocative.
If that comment was mis-represented, then I would admit this is a big nothing burger.
As for the actual flight, I do agree it is probably routine. I’m not sure if they changed things up here, but even then it’s not a terribly big deal.
Russia was promised that NATO would not expand eastward. So now Poland, and the Baltic states, all former Russian "allies" are full NATO members. NATO troops and aircraft are now stationed in these countries.
The US has spent eight years manipulating events in the Ukraine, formerly a province of Russia. What if California leaves the union and Russia starts to interfere directly politically? What would the US response be? I don't like communists, but ask yourself, if you were Putin how would you have reacted to eight years of Obama/Hillary/Kerry et al?
As for this incursion, it happens all the time. His air force is training and they want to gather information on RAF responses. Standard cold war stuff.
Heroes?? LOL!! As if the Russians were gonna fly over them in the first place...
Yeah, hyperbole, much?
RAF Heroes, ward off two bombers? So had the RAF not gone up and flown there beside them as they cruised their patrol route, they would have launched an attack? LOL, can’t wait for the graphic novel.
They should have said “amazing jaw dropping heroes...” then, and maybe then....I’d click on it...
I view those nations as former occupied territory. They were part of the U.S.S.R., and hardly by choice. The moment a choice was available, they chose their own destiny and asserted their independence.
Poland, Czechoslovakia... these weren’t what I would call allies in the conventional sense. Look at the uprisings in them and how the U.S.S.R. reacted.
I think there’s obviously some truth in what you say there about NATO and these countries, viewing it from the Russian perspective. What Russia forgets is that these nations spent decades under submission to soviet rule and iron handed domination. Certainly Russia can’t claim not to understand them being somewhat leery of another strong man dictator type.
Putin is reaping the byproduct of his braggadocio. It’s part of the reason why I am glad Trump hasn’t displayed his own brand toward Putin.
I’m hoping they’ll get together, Trump will assure him the U.S. would not be part of an offensive move against Russia, and Putin could relax a little.
These long rang bomber runs were part of the cold war. We’ll they are back. There’s no need for it. Putin is supposed to be a brillaint man.
For a brilliant guy he’s sure missing the forest for the trees.
He knows damn sell we’re not going to invade. On the other hand, he has.
Your note about California is correct. How will we like it if Russia sets up a base there?
It’s a realistic question. Some of the mindless folks on this forum are able to plan only one move on the chess-board at a time. That is evident. Sadly.
Good God, the level of total BS is completely out of hand and the headline is absolutely fake news of the worst sort.
They even admit, "near UK airspace", meaning in international airspace. What's the big deal? Were they don't what US and NATO aircraft do in the Baltic and near the other Russian borders which is fly with their transponders off?
Geez, the desperation among neocan bull spreading warmongers is getting nearly to the panic level.
Bears repeating.
rimshot!
And if you were standing up for Putin, you couldn’t be a better quisling apologist. Let Ukraine be free. And keep in mind the USA doesn’t send it’s jets to intrude into Canada’s airspace unless we’re on joint exercises.
Heroes?? Hardly. They probably intercepted, flew along side until they were out of the area. I suspect it’s a rather routine part of their job.
This image is from an earlier incident, but if you've seen one Blackjack you've pretty much seen them all.
