How many people can we arrest and deport every day, every year? If there are only 12 million, to clear them means 1 million a month, that’s over 33 thousand a month. Now I think there are more likely 30-60 million illegals. arrest and deporting will be overwhelming, even if satisfying effort.
You have to start somewhere...
many will self-deport.
To conserve resources this administration, and probably many state governors, will implement measures so as to force the illegals to self deport.
Not to worry. It will take time to reverse the dereliction of duty by past obama, bush, and clinton administrations. But it will be done.
Let’s not forget that once these removals of people with pending deportation orders get going, it will likely cause a multiple of that number of illegals going home on their own. Trump should make it clear that anyone who has to be forcibly removed will be barred from ever returning under any circumstance. The other side of the coin that needs to be explored is how to treat businesses that have been knowingly hiring them. Part of the problem is that if “everybody is doing it” and you don’t, you will be driven out of business. So we have to find a way to induce all of them to start the process of letting their illegals go and hiring citizens. Nobody wins if the businesses fail. I worked with a guy who had had a contract manufacturing business in the Silicon Valley. He said he didn’t like hiring illegals, but he’d go out of business in short order if he didn’t because all of his competitors had them. Unfortunately, his bank took his business when he borrowed too much to try and expand and it put him under.
Never going to actually deport them all. But just the fact that ICE is back in business will accelerate self deportation, and seriously discourage new invaders.
Will take time to sort this multi decadal mess left to President Trump. Needs to be done methodically since a rapid ramp up would cause many short term problems.
While the news is concentrated on the big sanctuary cities, I believe the most immediate impact will be felt in small town and rural America where ICE will have local law enforcement working in concert with them to get rid of the criminals in their towns.
Our biggest challenge is our own people sabotaging the operation.
Our biggest challenge is our own people sabotaging the Operation Wetback 2017.
Those who were arrested and subsequently deported, had to leave all their possessions behind, everything. Now, keep this up for a month or so being very public about it and all of a sudden U-Haul drop-offs south of the border will carry a very huge surcharge and you will see a constant stream across the border and caravans of empty U-Hauls coming back north.
Those with any sense at all will take their welfare afforded goodies and cars back home. The stupid ones will eventually leave because of the drip, drip, drip effect of mandatory e-verify, citizens only welfare and rising roadblocks to all other social access programs.
You’re right. There are a hell of a lot more here than government and media will admit.
Once deportations become commonplace, most will self-deport. Something like 75% self-deported during Eisenhower’s Operation Wetback.
During previous administrations, routine deportations were not newsworthy. Now they are. Think about the message that that sends to illegal aliens. Suddenly, they are hearing about deportation sweeps that they never heard of before—don’t you think that this might encourage them to self-deport? So we won’t have to deport every single one of them?
They are going after the criminal illegals and those with deportation orders. It says that right in the article. They are not moving against ALL illegals. Yet.
The publicity of these cases might encourage others to self-deport, especially if they think that a record with ICE will prevent them from getting back legally. Trump & his entire administration should be making a big deal of these arrests & deportations. It makes the Trumpsters happy & the left-wingers heads explode.
They are getting lots of government goodies—take them away.
