Dozens of people say they were fired for taking part in a protest in Denver. Thursday’s “A Day without Immigrants” movement closed restaurants, shops, and jobs sites across the United States.
The moment was an effort to show the Trump administration how much immigrants contribute to the country’s economy. Many skipped work and vowed not to spend any money that day.
Now dozens of local masonry workers say they are without a job.
It was a day meant to unite, but on a job site in Denver, Thursday’s “A Day without Immigrants” movement instead ripped apart a company and at least 30 of its workers.
At my school in Los Angeles, the student absentee rate was a little higher. Like... out of a class of 34, instead of the usual 2-3 missing there were 6-7, I think. That’s about it. Traffic was a little lighter, which was nice.
If they really want to make an impression- they should refuse their ‘welfare’ checks!
I heard a lot of them got fired.
Other than that, no difference here in Dallas.

Didn't even know it was going on till the next day when it was over and I heard about 50 of them got fired for missing work. Ha! Ha!
Nope, likely because most immigrants here legally thought it was pretty stupid. All of the Mexican and Chinese and other ethnic restaurants were up and running full force that are owned and operated by immigrants that I saw. This “day without immigrants” was a dud.
Well when you just literally walk off the job without a valid excuse - you just don’t want to show up and work - what do you expect to occur? The article is written as though they weren’t fired for just cause.
The only thing I noticed was local schools citing the importance of school attendance and attendance goals, asking people to only keep children out due to illness.
Heck, I thought it was tomorrow. It is already done?
I’ve heard numbers of firings in the 60s being reported in different areas.
A local bakery that caters more to tourists than locals had a sign supporting the illegals.
The lesbian owners will get tired of showing their E verifications of their employees.
When the tourist seasons dies down, lefty owners often go out of business as locals with money say no thank you!
It was actually a busier day than usual for me dealing with people who were born here.
I didn’t. Except I did see the article where the company in Memphis fired everyone that didn’t show up for work.
We didn’t have any problems with any “gimmigrants” here.

No, there are 30 million illegal aliens at least, not the 11 million they keep telling us.
The reason this fizzled was that they did not want to get fired as some of the ones who did participate found out the hard way.
