Little boy born without a brain can now speak, count, and attend schoo

When Noah Wall was born, the doctors said he probably wouldn’t survive and if he did, he would be severely physically and developmentally disabled. Born with only 2 percent of his brain to a family in Cumbria, England, Noah had no hope — at least according to the doctors.

In utero, Noah had developed a rare complication of spina bifida where his skull filled with fluid, crushing his brain down into a “thin sliver of tissue,” according to the UK’s Mirror. His parents — Shelly and Rob — were advised to abort him on five occasions. They refused. After Noah’s birth, an open wound in his back was closed and a shunt was installed to drain the fluid from his brain.

Shelly and Rob picked out a baby coffin for Noah, but they also never stopped believing he was anything less than a great gift. They took him home and the entire family surrounded him constantly with love, affection, and 24-7 care. Noah’s brain began to grow. And grow. And grow some more.

When he was 3, a brain scan showed that his brain “had expanded to 80% of a normal brain.” Now a movie on Britain’s Channel 5 called The Boy Who Grew A Brain documents just how far Noah has come.

The family continues to keep Noah’s brain stimulated to aid his neurological growth. Dr. Claire Nicholson of Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital in England — Noah’s neurosurgeon — calls him “a remarkable child with two remarkable parents.”

Noah, who’s always smiling and shows empathy and love in his words and deeds, is learning to read and write, can count, and attends school. His brain continues to develop beyond anyone’s wildest dreams and after some surgeries on his hips, Noah’s family believes he may actually walk one day. Given how this story has unfolded so far, you should probably bet on it.

And thank God and this kid’s parents that he was not killed before he had a chance.

I read this and wondered why God would let a child be born diagnosed in utero with no brain, let the parents agonize over that, have said child be born with, indeed, no brain, further agony for parents planning his funeral, then let the brain spontaneously grow to almost full capacity.

I know we can never know the motivations or mysteries of God but it's almost as if this was a test, here's a child you are told will have severe disabilities or die, do you let him live or kill him? If you let him live, you are gifted with a substantially functional child. Thankfully the parents chose well. Too many don't.

God doesn't manipulate the cosmos on a set of strings. If he did, there would be no point in a cosmos.

But then I read that he “grew a brain”

That's the pivotal moment in some Democrats' life when they see the light..

Interesting statement. Could he be a future savant on the level of Stephen Hawking? Who knows what God has planned for him.........

God doesn't manipulate the cosmos on a set of strings. If he did, there would be no point in a cosmos.

Those who do not accept God as the Lord of their lives cannot understand this simple truth. They hate God because he is not a puppeteer, running every detail of His creation. They desperately want a demon to rule them. Atheism provides many demons ready to take up the task of running their lives. As people of the Kingdom of God we are at war with all of them.

If that's so, that he doesn't get involved, then there's also no point in praying for God's help

As long as he stays brain damaged, he might someday even head up the GOP.

Comparing anyone to Hawking would be an insult- Hawking is an irrelevant idiot who fits very plainly in the Romans 1 (18-32 specifically) description of those who through their own machinations of a Godless universe become fools and worse....

Hawking would have said “abort the imbecile”, “its just a mass of incoherent cells, you can try again”.

Seems like his brain was compressed and once the pressure in his cranium decreased it was allowed to expand.I hate it when docs make predictions when they know so little (means that very little is known...not that they are stupid) about the physiology of the body in extreme situations...I personally know of a doc who told my friend that my friends wife might die quickly due to large sacral ulcer and her autoimmune nerve disease...5 years later she is still alive and hanging in there...he sadly died over a year ago.

Score another one for “nurture” (in the nurture vs. nature argument).
