California exports its poor to Texas, other states, while wealthier people move in

California exports more than commodities such as movies, new technologies and produce. It also exports truck drivers, cooks and cashiers.

Every year from 2000 through 2015, more people left California than moved in from other states. This migration was not spread evenly across all income groups, a Sacramento Bee review of U.S. Census Bureau data found. The people leaving tend to be relatively poor, and many lack college degrees. Move higher up the income spectrum, and slightly more people are coming than going.

About 2.5 million people living close to the official poverty line left California for other states from 2005 through 2015, while 1.7 million people at that income level moved in from other states – for a net loss of 800,000. During the same period, the state experienced a net gain of about 20,000 residents earning at least five times the poverty rate – or $100,000 for a family of three.

Actual workers are being exported?
Illegal immigrants will be deported?

California will consist almost entirely of rich people with almost no real world skills?

Things might get rough. Perhaps higher taxes would help ...

They'll need more than that to pay for all the illegal aliens.

If they’re poor they’ll vote Democrat. Does this mean we’re in trouble? If Calif experiences a major earthquake, tsunami, or dam break the rich can fix it. Hopefully the ‘poor’ that left will confine their outside help to medical help.

Wonder if the data from CalPERS retirement checks sustain that notion?

I would be a steady stream of folks are leaving the state.

*****************

Seems if they were close to the proverty line they were relocating
to where the cost of living may be somewhat lower, JMO.

Poor people can’t afford to live there and if they own houses they want to cash out of them.

“California exports its poor to Texas, other states, while wealthier people move in”

Well.....all the wealthier people moving in have to do is turn on the heater cold mornings for a month, and they’ll be just as broke as the poor leaving this Democrat ruled State.

Exporting the poor elsewhere while keeping the wealthy at home. Looks like California is copying its “mother country” Mexico in that regard.

Frequently on FR threads there are posters who say they’d like to see LA or San Fran slide into the ocean on the next big quake or some other calamity befall CA to punish the marxist/leftist population.

No though given that such calamities would send a biblical scale exodus of the aforementioned people throughout the US and into every neighborhood.

I realize cooks are underpaid but I didn’t know they were “poor” - some of them are highly skilled, fast and efficient. Good! More tasty food for the rest of us!

Not a problem. California has enough illegals to do the jobs these Americans will not stay to do. It’s odd though, if you believe leftist propaganda, that the poor would leave the state that is most generous to them. It’s almost like decent Americans want to earn their own way instead of being kept as pets and supported by their betters.

Looks to me like Texas will make out okay on the deal. Texas will be getting real working class people. I'm not too sure about that "poor" statement however.
One of mu uncles was a truck driver as well as a couple of cousins. They were not "poor".
As far as a "college degree" goes.....
The last I heard someone does not need a college degree to drive a truck or be a cook.....

Texas has had an invasion of Californuts for going on two decades. They move here with their wacko ideas and try to turn us into what they left behind. They jack up home prices which is causing every last one of our neighbors who have lived here for generations to either postpone retirement, sell or 14 on our street have put their homes up for vacation rentals just to pay the inflated property taxes.

They’ve turned Austin into the Berkeley of the Southwest.

Good point. Houston never recovered from NOLA Katrina evacuees who never moved back. Gangs and violent crime skyrocketed and have not returned to pre-katrina levels.

If the wealthy are moving into Kaliforniastan-Sodom on the Pacific-Islamistan San Homofrisco, then they are a self inflicted wound asking to be bombed my massive taxes. Taxing the wealthy and businesses is the only way they can stay in business and not file for bankruptcy each week.

Cooks & truck drivers are poor people?
They can work from just about anywhere, but their paycheck certainly won’t go as far if living in CA.

However, I doubt that it is the truck drivers and cooks who are causing this.
