It has been suggested that Italy leave the Eurozone until it has sorted out its own failings, but that is not likely to be an option for a country on the verge of collapse. Its people won't likely choose to take their leaky rafts out into an unstable sea alone. They would surely sink. The country's 12% unemployment rate should be a clear indication to the world that things are not alright in a country fraught with devastating economic prospects.
UniCredit approved a rights issue in February to sell shares at discount. As one of Italy's largest lenders, UniCredit began selling discount shares to offset $18B in bad loans this March. This will likely be the beginning of a new trend in Italy's collapsing financial industry. There is no promise, however, that it will act as anything more than a band-aid on a gaping sword slash.
Italy's problems have reflected negatively on Europe's whole price-to-book ratios, but the entire Eurozone would still face its own struggles without Italy.

Nothing new....Italy has had over 60 governments since WWII.
Italy should go back to being a geographic expression, it doesn’t function well as a country.
I had this explained to me two years ago by an Italian taxi driver with his Master’s degree.
#1. Wrong color, can’t legally immigrate to the USA.
#2. CORRUPT POLITICIANS.
#3. Mafia.
#4. A corrupt Catholic Church
#5. Left over bad socialist and their Communist party.
All destroying Italy as their lower middle class sees a 45% income tax rate.
IIRC, ~1985, Italy had had 41 governments in the 40 years since the end of WWII.
The politicians don’t get it. A country MUST produce, in factories, with agriculture, or with technological inventiveness. Without that, no wealth is created, and a country runs out of money and fails.
Socialism never creates money. It just takes money from the remaining few who are creating it, and gives it to the non-producers.
[Italy falls] == [Mafia returns]
But what does the political pope hav to say? More socialism please?
Yep. France is just as bad.
European Union? The members aren’t even unions.
If things are really this dire in Italy, why are they taking in large numbers of impoverished African migrants? That cant be helping the situation.
Thanks for the alert. I just ordered my new Ferrari along with a spare timing chain and a couple of oil filters.
They should split north and south. Worked for Sudan.
It's been about to fall for decades and hasn't yet.
Italy is the third largest issuer of sovereign debt (after America and Japan) and is embroiled in a slow-burning economic crisis.
The problem is not new. Ever since Italy reconstituted itself as a republic in 1946, a year after the fall of Benito Mussolini, it has churned through governments. In the 67 years since Italians have had 61 governments (or 62, if you count Mr Lettas), each one lasting for a little more than a year on average.
Wrong. Doesn’t explain other countries failing in the same way. The reason is simple. Control for power of the few. It has many names. The reasons are circumstantial. The USA will be next if Trump is defeated.
If push came to shove Ferrari would relocate to America and bring her employees along. 8>)
Great thinking.. I might have to wait a lil while, like my next life. Varoom!
Italy won’t fall.....Rome is there and the political interests of the Vatican is tied up tightly with the Globalist agenda.....they’ll bail them out before it ever falls.
You’d think the Vatican would sell some of the billions of jewels hanging on the corpses beneath the vatican or stored up there...give it to the Italian government as a jester of good will....
Yet we have many Italians. Were you in Italy taking the taxi or here in America? If America then he himself is proof that is not the case.
Hey a pope a francis a, canna you open a uppa dos vatican a bank accounts a just a to a let us have a little oil for for bread a. Its a the Christian a thing a to do.
