Vice President Pence Apologizes to Freedom Caucus, Pushes Truce

Vice President Mike Pence has offered to broker a peace accord with the White House and the House Freedom Caucus, a move that could lead the small but powerful faction of Congress to eventually support President Trump’s health-care overhaul, the FOX Business Network has learned.

The president’s health care initiative failed two weeks ago amid criticism from the Freedom Caucus—a fiscally conservative faction inside the House GOP – that it didn’t include enough free-market initiatives to effectively reverse ObamaCare’s vast array of insurance mandates that form the current health care system.

Without the support of the 36-member Freedom Caucus, Speaker Paul Ryan decided not to bring the president’s bill to the floor of the House for a vote, effectively killing the measure at least for the immediate future.

In a meeting Monday night with the Freedom Caucus, Pence offered to broker a truce, and even apologized for the heated rhetoric coming out of the White House against individual members, according to people who were present at the meeting.

Pence’s statement came after the Caucus’s chairman, North Carolina Congressman Mark Meadows, asked Pence to “address attacks coming from the White House” against the group, said one person in the room.

Pence, this person said, “Noted…I absolutely understand” the concerns of the Caucus about the attacks.

The person said Pence then apologized and offered to broker a peace between both sides. “Based on the conversation they had I very much think there will not be any more attacks on our members any time soon,” said one person at the meeting who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

This account was confirmed by Alyssa Farah, a spokeswoman for Meadows, who had no further comment. White House spokeswoman Hope Hicks didn’t immediately return a telephone call and email for comment

AOTD. Exactly. Be prepared to walk away from a negotiation.

I agree. He’s made mistakes, but he is the best we are going to get. I just hope he quits listening to whoever is steering him wrong. I’m wondering if it is his son-in-law, along with Reince. Wish Trump had made one of his sons his Senior Advisor instead. I don’t even care which one. I like both of them much better than Jared

Ryan is a doctor and has a plan to replace Obamacare much better than Rino Ryan’s Obamacare lite plan.

>>Oh spare me all the 3D chess crap. <<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If you don’t like the chess analogy, maybe you would prefer pool.

It is not a game of sinking a single shot. It is about preparing the next shot, and the next shot after that.

There comes a time when the best move is to leave the opponent with bad (or impossible) shot choices.

I suggest waiting to see the final outcome. That is what counts.

Wasn’t Charlie at times very pro both Clintons!

I stopped watching early last year during a very pro Clinton rant.

Did Farah have her burka on or off?

No. No, I don’t think we did. The way I see it - Trump has continued to be too busy sucking up to RyanCare to be bother with tax code reform.

An Isis leader agrees with you re Trump~

You are now ruled by a stupid idiot: IS’s messages to ‘bankrupt’ US

The Islamic State has derided United States President Donald Trump as a “stupid idiot” and said his rise to power was a sign of America’s bankruptcy.

Targeting Trump directly for the first time since he took office, the Islamic State terror group in the 36-minute audio released by its spokesperson Abu Hasan al-Muhajir yesterday called him an Arabic term that means an “idiot”, saying the US President does not know anything about Islam, NBC News reported.

Terming the US as “bankrupt”, it said, “the sign of your elimination are now clearer to everyone, as the most clear of signs is that you are now ruled by a stupid idiot who does not know what Sham and Iraq are, or what Islam is, who continues to express his hatred and war against Islam”.

The propaganda said Trump has expressed his “hatred and war” against Islam, the report said.

Other translations of the statement replaced “stupid idiot” with “riff raff” or “harebrained”, it said.

Al-sham is a term Islamic State uses to describe a region that includes Syria.

It appears to be the first time the Islamic State has referred to Trump since he took office.

IS, which controls large swaths of territories in Iraq and Syria, is currently being targeted by a US-led military coalition.

Trump has pledged to “totally obliterate IS,” which swept across parts of Iraq in 2014.

Trump has been widely criticised in the past for his controversial statements on Islam.

The IS statement does not appear to directly refer to Trump’s executive order temporarily banning people of six Muslim-majority countries from entering the US.

Who cried mercy?? The FC, not Trump.

Pence came to them offering to work out a truce and not the other way around.

Who sounds more conservative (i.e., less government, more individual liberty), Jared/Ivanka/Reince or either of his two sons?

Who is in the WH?

I think we are seeing Trump’s identity in the people who have his ear—and it’s not the “outsiders”. Very disappointing. The consolation is that no other republican would have had a chance against Hillary and Trump is better than Hillary.

Could Steve Bannon’s demotion have been a peace offering and sacrificial lamb from Pence to the Freedom Caucus?

Good cop, bad cop.

The Freedom Caucus has the responsibility to present and pass a bill now.

Before the next primaries.
