" US deploys two more Aircraft Carriers to N Korea: Mina
According to a report by South Korea's primary news outlet, Yonhap, the Pentagon has directed a total of three US aircraft carriers toward the Korean Peninsula, citing a South Korean government source.
Yonhap reports that in addition to the CVN-70 Carl Vinson, which is expected to arrive off the South Korean coast on April 25, the CVN-76 Ronald Reagan - currently in home port in Yokosuka, Japan - and the CVN-68 Nimitz carrier group - currently undergoing final pre-deployment assessment, Composite Training Unit Exercise off Oregon - will enter the Sea of Japan next week. According to the senior government official. the US and South Korea are discussing joint drills, which will include the three aircraft carriers and other ships.

Why does everyone assume South Korea is going to get blasted? Are our guys so dumb as to not prepare for NORK ordnance falling on the South.
This wouldn't be a typical transit.
Arriving sometime "next week" could put us anywhere from 7 to 12 days out.
Nimitz could well be within striking distance in 10 to 12 days, amusing underway in the next 24 to 48 hours. And, they wouldn't need to be the first carrier to launch, could be there for backup (or sustained) contingencies. All well within possibility.
Exactly!
Kim Jong Un was expecting a big US payout to stop being belligerent while still be belligerent.
Hey, Obama the muslim coke head twink is gone Un. Major miscalculation.
Kim Jong Prefix may still try to light up the sky, but if he does, he’ll be cooking in hell courtesy of the United States of America.
Even at 22 knots, Hungnam itself is a bit less than 10 days. The “Sea of Japan” would be less than that. Put us into “next week.”
Pretty hard to prepare for thousands and thousands of shells. But go ahead and think what you want you wannabe arm-chair general
under weigh? as in “weigh anchor”.
Do they have their CAW aboard? Have they stopped by Pt Magu for ordnance?
Are all the escorts loaded and ready?
Moving a Carrier Strike Group is a big effin’ deal. Especially one that was not in rotation.
The UN?
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
No concern for chemical weapons attacks but this, hey hold on.
The UN is a tool of one world government. In the way the NYTs earns its loathing, the UN is dirty on a global scale.
Because its very difficult to intercept stuff that doesn’t have to come very far.
Also they very likely have far more to shoot with than any number of interceptors in place. I am talking of normal bombardment rockets and long range guns such as those mentioned here -

The rockets at least could potentially use poison gas warheads, that was the usual Com-Bloc means of dropping gas.
And then there are nukes. These do not require a missile deliverable version, they can most likely be dropped by aircraft. A single low-flying plane attacking by surprise in the midst of a bombardment, or just one out of a swarm of them (if the whole flyable NK AF sorties) just has to penetrate less than 50 miles to get to Seoul.
Nodoby here knows its exact status or whereabouts.
Is the report from the South Korean government source accurate? Fake?
We certainly cant be certain.
However, it's within the margin of possiblity that the Nimitz is there on station within 12 days.

Escorts (CG/DDG) certainly can keep up 30 kts for days, but the cost is an extra 3000+ gallons of fuel per hour over what would be consumed in a 25 kt transit.
We used to routinely and deliberately kick the crap out of our plants most evenings, especially on the CVN.
The Nimitz can be there in a week at flank speed but you didnt hear that from me
They stop and get ordnance in Tiajunna
I don't know if this is it, but I do see parallels to this build up and the build that took place weeks before the first Gulf war.
It’s far more likely the Ronald Reagan will be onsite to welcome the Carl Vinson and the Nimitz group is 3 weeks out.
You make a good point. But is there a way to seriously blunt a Nork retaliatory strike on the South? How about carpet bombing their planes and artillery with MOABs? War has never been bloodless. If we attack it will be a war but, hopefully, it won't last long.
