I rarely open anything on Facebook. I look at my friends’ posts and comment on their comments and that’s about it. I’ve never in my life purchased anything from a link in Facebook. Ever. I ignore the ads as well as the stupid teaser articles and the “most people can’t do this” type of crap.

If everyone used Facebook like I do, there would be zero money in it.

I hope that FB is tossed on the pile of ancient history.

We only have so much time in our day and maybe we don’t want to be reached by you.

We don’t use FB and most of our relatives and friends don’t.

So, I don’t understand what is happening re “Reach”!

Could the Facebook IT’s be playing a game here?

I would appreciate a simple 2-3 paragraphs explanation of what is happening.

Again my favorite two Latin words, seem to be appropriate here:

Cui Bono, who benefits!?

Funny, my FB account was just temporarily disabled as a “Security precaution”. Happened to some of my FB friends recently. What gives?

FB serves a function. In this dysfunctional but wonderful town I live in, local groups are a means of communication about current local government (bad) decision making and if warnings about any dangers need to be relayed. It really is great for sharing ideas and concerns on that level.

The cute "nothing" comments are fine....you know like "oh what a wonderful new hair style".

But real discussion of issues? It gets so crude and so hurtful. Posters mostly use stuff from groups with an agenda, not their own thoughts. My feeling is that Zuckerberg wanted FB to be more important than it is in having a positive impact on the world.

Well , if they keep the Kahns in and boot away conservatives, makes
sense
that after election they get zero reach. Facebook only works as antisocial media and when people want a break from antisocial, they leave fb

People, me included, have gotten burned out on FB.

The hissy-fits, cat-fights, name-calling and UNFRIENDING has gotten tiresome and boring.

It’s like HS cliques all over again!................................

Those in our family relationship have grown bored with it and no longer post. Knowing it’s nothing but a cash cow for advertisers doesn’t help.

"I look at my friends’ posts and comment on their comments and that’s about it."

That is what I want to do, but you can't even do that well now. Facebook is pushing so much content onto the "comment window" (which used to be on the sidebar) that the comments I am interested in "scroll away" so far and fast that you simply often cannot even find a comment topic you have interacted with.

Well...I did tell a Trump hating snowflake or two about themselves and posted a derogatory comment about Springsteen, nothing vulgar, but I suppose I let my "White privilege" get the best of me. I'm so ashamed....NOT!

That’s probably what happened.
Snowflake didn’t like what you said, so he/she/it ‘reported’ your posts as ‘hate speech’ to the FB Nazis................

10% of my Facebook posts from friends are related to Multi-Level Marketing/their business. Another 20% is politics and another 10% is them stupidly forwarding identity-farming posts.
