It’s supposed to be 88 here, so I’m hiding inside. I’ll hit the garden tomorrow when it cools down. Then it supposed to be in the 60s next week. I think I will much enjoy that.

Reasonable questions. Each book has a different contract. Those written before Patriot’s History of the United States pay less obviously.
There are performance clauses: if a book exceeds a certain # my % goes up. If a book makes the NYT list, my % goes up.
An e-book pays a higher royalty than paper. But as long as it’s a new-—not used-—sale, I get the royalty.
If I could wave a magic wand, the book I would have “earn out” (i.e., exceed my advance) is Patriot’s History of the Modern World-—”the best book nobody’s read.” That would restore a great deal of my market value on other books.
Finally, it doesn’t matter when a book is sold on terms of NYT list. PHUSA because of Glenn Beck went to #1 six years after first publication.
