To put it simply, I knew this was coming ever since November 8. I remember telling people shortly after the election that a Republican majority doesn’t equal a conservative majority. I knew that this kind of budget BS was coming.
Doesn’t change my support for the President one iota.
He doesn’t have to sign it.
He signs it, he owns it.
Trump needs to get out his little line item veto pen.

It’s when I see photos like this that I start to consider whether the reptilians are a real phenomenon.....
He vetoes, they override.
And then he’s hamstrung.
It’s a choice of damnations.
He vetoes, they override, he’s got the platform for the midterm elections. “Give me a Congress who cares about YOU, the People”.
IF they can get Trump-supporting candidates to run. The time should be NOW to start identifying specific elections and locating good patriots with enough courage and backing to run.

And wouldn't the Freedom Caucus types and anyone else in a conservative district see it as an opportunity not to vote for the override? Especially if Trump comes out and says: "This is not what the American people voted for. So I'm sending it back. They can shut down if they want. It will be their problem in 2018, not mine." Because the problem really is that the RINOs, not the Democrats, are the ones using the shutdown threat against Trump. It's all-out war.

He doesn't have one. That said, I'd support him if he took out his Constitutional veto pen, and sent this crock of Schumer back to the Capitol.
Let us be quite clear: President Trump has enemies in Congress. Let us also be quite clear on who they are: They have names like Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan and Nancy Pelosi. The handful of conservatives in Congress are is friends. I hope he has the wisdom to see that.

Maybe yes, maybe no.
I don’t know what the President is thinking, nor do any of us know what’s going on behind closed doors. We’re working with maybe 30% of total available information as far as I can tell.
Another thing to remember is the axiom that two weeks in politics is an eternity. No one’s talking about, say, the Syrian strikes or the MOAB on ISIS any more. But the problem with the veto override is that it’s a long-term problem. If the weasels in Congress do that, he loses quite a bit of leverage over them because it reduces him to a powerless figurehead. The Republicans who, for example, were arm-twisted into voting for the nuclear option would no longer be afraid of what Trump could do in return because they have far less fear of a veto.
It’s stupid but that’s how it could well go.
And so for the price of a single spending bill that would otherwise be forgotten, potentially two years worth of agenda could well be sacrificed. And by the time midterms roll around, no one will remember this spending bill, but if Trump doesn’t get enough through of the MAGA agenda, things will get a lot worse for the last two years.
Whether or not it’s a good choice to force them to override a veto, I don’t know. But it’s not as cut and dry as many people think.
Overall, there is one thing I note that many of the President’s detractors are missing. And that is the fact that he has kept, is keeping, or tried to keep 95%+ of the promises that he made during the campaign. I find it hard to believe that he’s abandoning us so quickly.
