I don’t beleive the rules don’t alter for emergencies. What if someone is having a heart attack. Keep his seat buckled then - til he dies and don’t help him? B.S.

I can’t picture how that could be done.
She stands up at her seat, that alone is tough. pulls her pants down, squats on the cup. Asks the seatmate to pass the napkins, Don’t Look ! Hold the warm cup while she tidies up and pulls her pants up?
Gemme a break. Never happened.

Now if she had said “I peed myself” i might have believed her.

If it is accurate, which I highly doubt, United must have confiscated every damned phone from every passenger.

There is a reason to be seated, and belted in during climb to cruise, and decending to land. Clear air turbulence cannot be seen, but is most likely to occur traversing differing wind speeds, directions, temperatures, at different altitudes.

An unbelted person, or a piece of unsecured baggage can become missiles.

She knows she has a weak bladder. Why would she not wear protection? Comes off as a selfish, sniveling, money grabber to me...

The need to urinate is hardly an emergency.

Dang Sara. You should quit posting on this thread. You are embarrassing yourself.

Another nice straw man. I’m surprised you are willing to equate a full bladder with a life-ending event.

Regardless of what you believe, the airline is not wrong in this case, according to what I read in the article.

Sooo.... did she keep the cup as evidence or take video of the incident? If not, it may be pretty hard for her to prove the even even occurred, lol.

“If she does have an over active bladder condition, she should have worn Depends.”

Yeah, if you know you have that condition, you either don’t fly or you make your own preparations for these situations. Don’t expect the safety rules to bend just for you.

Turbulance will not stop during an emergency. Neither will the fact that you must be secured during a takeoff or landing. (20 years of aviation business under my belt.)

Before you sue United back to the stone ages, consider this new thread:

One woman, one cup?

Me and my wife always bring water bottles on flights. After getting past security, we fill the empty bottles so we can drink them while waiting to board and on the flight. Now it occurs to me that they can double as receptacles for urinating. Of course, any water in the bottle would need to be poured out on the floor. Guys have it easier than gals to fill a bottle. Maybe everyone should just wear a Depends when flying, or maybe the airlines should place one in the magazine pouch on the seatback - it's getting to that point.
