49% vote for a man living actively in Sin. What does that say about our culture?
I think people are more worried about jobs, taxes, healthcare, guns and (for Dems) the environment to care about whether or not he lives with his fiance. If you think that is scary, you should see how often millenials are hooking up with just about anyone these days with apps like Tinder, Bumble, etc
In addition to his other problems, like residency, the fact that he’s been “with her” 12 years and hasn’t married her says a lot about his problem with commitment - to her and to his constituents had he been elected. INMHO
You do realize the homicide rate is significantly lower now than 100 years ago when very few people “lived in sin,” right?
It means we’ve managed to so thoroughly trash the whole institution of marriage that most voters have simply thrown their hands up and stopped keeping a scorecard.
The DEMOCRATS banned THE TEN COMMANDMENTS in government buildings. Apparently they think the rules don’t apply to them.
I'm not in any position to criticize Ossoff. Nor would I feel the need to do so even if I were.
What is says is that culture has been changing. Men are now very reluctant to get married in the current atmosphere.
There have several articles on this of late I have come across.
There is nothing that says you can’t have a committed relationship by not being married and being married is something pushed by the State, in that you have to get a license. We went through this argument with the advent of Gay Marriage.
Major Negative Issue Yes. Like Hillary and Classified Email on an Unsecured Server Felony. Yes, if you say The Culture is that bad I would agree with you. It can only get Worse.
For once, he speaks the truth.
CNN didn’t call it Sin. Therefore it must be OK.
A whole bunch of conservatives held their nose and looked the other way in November for a candidate whose social resume makes Ossoff look like a choir boy.
If Hillary lives with Bill, nobody cares anymore.
Meh, it merely confirms what we have known for a long time. I mean, years ago, Republicans would have had a BIG problem with Trump and his multiple wives, not to mention the grabbing of the kitties.
“Decades ago, divorce was a problem for politicians, but that too is no longer an issue.”
The current President is 3 times divorced. Anyone cares? Even Reagan was divorced. Nobody cared or cares.
This is to justify his morals?? I have a Bridge in Brooklyn to Sell Ya!
12 years without getting married? I don’t get it. Even after a few years and decent income, and clearly no sign of a breakup, it’s a “might as well” deal.
Didn't this used to be Newt Gingrich's district?
Ossoff lives with his girlfriend — oh, sorry, “fiancée” — and they are not married and there's no practical reason that this is the case. Sadly, this really is no big deal in New York. A couple of years ago here in NYC, we had a Mayor who lived with his girlfriend AND a Governor who lived with his girlfriend. Governor Cuomo still lives with his girlfriend and nobody cares. Well, there are about 241 of this in the state who do think this is disgraceful, but that's it.
I am not defending Trump versus Ossoff, just pointing out that Trump's personal sins are in the past. Regarding the fact that Ossoff lives with his girlfriend in the present: I am not convinced that voters in Georgia don't care. Certainly, Ossoff’s Hollywood voters don't care, but many of the people who voted for Ossoff’s opponent may care very much that Ossoff embodies the values/lack of values in American culture today.
Yes, and that's going to have the usual results. Funny how no one thinks of that these days.
