Trump’s nationalist warning contrasts with European leaders’ (delusional) optimism at G-20

HAMBURG — President Trump brought a starkly populist and nationalistic message to Europe on Thursday, characterizing Western civilization as under siege and putting the United States on a potential collision course with European and Asian powers that embrace a more cooperative approach to the world.

Speaking in Warsaw ahead of his arrival here in Germany for a contentious Group of 20 summit, Trump delivered an address that was both provocative and short on specifics — arguing that Western values are increasingly imperiled by “radical Islamic terrorism” and extremism and casting himself as a champion in a vaguely defined clash of cultures.

“The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive. Do we have the confidence in our values to defend them at any cost?” Trump said, speaking at a monument to a past struggle, the 1944 Polish resistance to Nazi occupation in World War II. “Do we have enough respect for our citizens to protect our borders? Do we have the desire and the courage to preserve our civilization in the face of those who would subvert and destroy it?”

Later in the day, Trump took to Twitter to proclaim that “THE WEST WILL NEVER BE BROKEN. Our values will PREVAIL.”

In reviewing President Trump's visit and speech in Poland today, I was reminded of Russell Kirk's essay, The Common Heritage of Europe and America, available for reading here

Kirk's words from that essay may be appropriate here on this day:

"The patrimony of a civilization can be lost at the very moment of that civilization’s material triumph. In any culture worthy of the name, men must be something better than the flies of a summer; generation must link with generation. Some men among us are doing whatever is in their power to preserve and reinvigorate our common heritage. This is not a work that can be accomplished through positive law or the creation of international commissions. Yet if a people forget the ashes of their fathers and the temples of their gods, the consequences soon will be felt in the laws and in international affairs. Without cultural community between America and Europe, there is little point in political alliance."

He is correct, as usual, but the arrogant leaders in Europe are not listening, as usual.

The transnational bureaucratic world envisioned by the EUniks are the greatest threat to civilization since the fall of communism. They are the greater threat, perhaps, given their more subtle weapons of directed culture perversion, and cash.

They are enemies of every sovereign nation on earth.

Western Europe is in a death spiral lead by incompetent fools.

Eastern Europe gets it having been enslaved by the USSR for so many years.

This is remarkably similar to the myopic tripe written in the papers as Hitler was on the ascendancy pre-WWII. Whistling past the cemetery of a Europe that would soon be in flames. Some people never learn. Wise people prepare.

Islam has been carrying out jihad with the goal of world domination since 622 A.D.

It’s time to acknowledge what our ancestors knew.

John Quincy Adams on Islam

In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE.

Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extinction of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men. The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. It is, indeed, amongst the mysterious dealings of God, that this delusion should have been suffered for so many ages, and during so many generations of human kind, to prevail over the doctrines of the meek and peaceful and benevolent Jesus (Blunt, 1830, 29:269, capitals in orig.).

Short on specifics? That is one egregious non sequitur.

Trump delivered an address that was both provocative and short on specifics....................................... Being blind in one eye, I didn’t catch the source, but when I read this sentence, I gave it a “what the hey” what Hamburg Rag wrote this? When I looked again, way and behold, who else? I should have known immediately.
Keep Trying WAPO, give us real news not opinions for which there is never anything positive or substantive coming from you regarding Trump.
