No. Federal officeholders — senators and congressmen — cannot be recalled. This has been litigated both in federal court (Idaho, 1967) and state court (New Jersey, 2013).
What other plausible choices did Arizona have? Someone has to be willing to run the brutal gantlet that is US politics that even tries to be on the up and up.

I think McCain realizes with his health issues he won’t be running for re-election. So, he decided to act on a personal vendetta against Trump and fellow Republicans.

In 2012 when Chris McDaniels was running against the Rino Traitor Thad Cochran for the Senate seat after the Haley Barbour Machine had smeared this fine conservative christian man with charges of racism and other things I actually voted for the Democrat Travis Childres.
Childres was probably more conservative than Cochran anyway.
I guess I feel the people of Arizona should have done the same as I did.
