Conservative activists in Tennessee are unhappy with Sen. Bob Corker and prepared to put their money and manpower behind a strong Republican primary challenger if one emerges.
Mark Green, the state senator who was President Trump's first choice for Army secretary, is their preferred candidate. Green is weighing a 2018 bid, and is the sort of formidable candidate who could clear the field of other Republicans eying the race.
That's important, because Tennessee's conservative power brokers, led by wealthy Nashville automobile dealer Lee Beaman, aren't interested in waging a quixotic battle against Corker. They want to back a winner.
But it also shows just how vulnerable the Senate Foreign Relations chairman could be heading into the midterm. Lingering anti-establishment fervor is driving restlessness with Corker on the Right.
They don't appreciate his moderate tone, a throwback to an era when Tennessee Republicans preferred genteel statesman in the mold of Howard Baker, Bill Frist and Sen. Lamar Alexander, who barely escaped his own primary in 2014 over a little-known state legislator.

“I have to disagree with you on that one. Arizona has Flake and McCain, the poster boys for repealing the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”
Flake is up for re-election. I will do what I can to see that he is defeated. I think the Lord is calling McCain back.
Corker is another worthless RINO who is using up oxygen.

You should start a petition to rename that highway.
New England is dead for republicans. Susan Collins is the last GOP senator in New England. Republicans worst areas are New England and west coast.
Doesn’t matter who replaces Corker. TN just has this history of Republicans being total moderates. It’s in the state’s genes.
I’m with you, Nana.
Can’t believe it. Alexander and Corker are the worst kind of liberal RINO GOPe wankers. They need to go!
I’d like to see Flake try to pass himself off as a conservative this go-around.
Speaking of Hugh Hewitt (not that anybody was) is he still around? He made a real effort five years ago to give Flake air time and to further the notion he was a conservative.
Maybe they need to buy "another pair". Double entondra included in that comment as a bonus.
They don’t care either ...
years ago I got in Lamar! face about his vote for AMNSTY...he just laughed at me and called me names...
when we were doing surges with Mark Levin I was calling once a day to both Lamar! and Corker...
a local RINO Robin Smith screamed across a room at me at a Republican women’s meeting to stop calling them I was bothering them...
Nobody orders me not to call my elected officials...
Yeah you guessed it...that’s right... after that I called them 2 and 3X a day
:)
BTW Robin Smith (a “conservative”)ran for the 3rd District shortly after that and I made sure people knew her stance for AMNESTY...
she never got the primary...I think that was Chuck Fleischmann’s first term...
Time for Corker to go.
Repubs up for re-election 2018:
Flake AZ
Wicker MS
Fisher NE
Heller NV
Corker TN
Cruz TX
Hatch UT
Barrasso WY
Flake needs to go.
Fisher has turned out to be somewhat of a RINO, IIRC (correct me, if I’m wrong).
Heller needs should be toast after his last minute 0Care vote shenanigans (passing til final traitor McQueeg NO vote).
Hatch retiring?
Arizona representing here, I think we’ve got you beat
My money to Corker’s strongest primary opponent. CORK THE CROCK CORKER!!
The primary system in TN is rigged against conservatives...
It is very important to win these primary challenges. They need to be well funded, and the challenger has to be a true conservative who is ready for prime time. Failing is not an option, because, with Rinos, what does not kill them makes them stronger. If they survive primary challenges, especially if they do so easily (like Ryan did), they get more arrogant and fearless of their own voters. I want them gone, and I want the ones who we don’t target (or who aren’t up for election this time around) to remain fearful. They work for us, not the other way around.
Corker is worse than McCain in at least one respect. At least we know Juan is near his do not use after date.
Bring Him On, Corker got to go
I think that honor goes to the great state of Arizona with McCain and Flake.
Good points, but the Republican primary voters are so uninformed as to be unreachable in many instances, such as in SC, TN, and AZ.
