I see you have been listening to the weather channel black dude that showed a map yesterday that went Wednesday, Monday, Friday, Saturday. He said we have had so much rain it is like a swamp..... In S Texas, summer time....
NO IT IS NOT WET HERE. We are in the direct path 90 miles inland and we are welcoming the rain. Our stock tanks are empty or low of water and some people have been redigging them and some people are not so lucky and have not started yet. If you are in the cow business, salt mix is a staple food right now to get the beeves to eat the stemmy grasses that come from dry summer weather. Mice have been bunching up in the feed room a sure sign of dry weather (along with the snakes that hunt them down and the snakes that hunt the snakes) is here.
So, let it rain but leave the destruction behind, if possible.
Being in the Carolinas I’m just watching this one and sitting it out.
But it’s a good reminder to check the 5 Kw generator this weekend and lay in some extra supplies like frozen and canned food.
Got 30 gallons worth of water containers and twenty five for gas - plus another 17 in the pickup truck tank.
Keeping an eye on the Hurricane Center allows me to hit the stores for last minute items a good 48 hours before the mad rush begins.
Very bad hurricane that reeked havoc up and down the coast for 5 days. I believe it was a Cat 5 though

Yes, those of us who are not in the path of this storm are thankful.
H. Harvey is just now approaching an area with weather buoys. There just aren’t a lot of buoys off the Mexican coast.
The fastest actually recorded windspeeds (as opposed to windspeeds derived from NHC weather models) are 45 m.p.h. As I mentioned, H. Harvey is just now approaching the buoys. The 45 m.p.h. winds were reported at a buoy about 100 miles NNE of the center of the storm.
It doesn’t look like Harvey will directly cross the path of any buoys before landfall. That said, there are a lot of buoys in the area which are owned by the oil companies. They are not publishing data on the NDBC website.
My Corpus and P Isabel friends have boarded up the windows and are prepared. The S Texas coast hasn’t had a storm in a long while. Everyone I know is staying put at home. It would take a 4 or 5 to get them to leave town. I spoke to a friend yesterday, I could hear the extra adrenaline in their voice.

If they're in a tank, you could aerate with a "waterfall" effect. Just keep a glass or jar near the tank and every so often, dip some water out, and slowly pour it back in...from a couple feet up.
If they're outside....hmmmmm. Many hazards for them.
We can only hope the are prepared for the worst, and then hope for the best. Perhaps they will not be on the dirty (N/E) side of the storm.

We have mobile homes down here that are on 11 foot concrete stilts,even than no place to be.
Should be somewhat safe if not in the wind area, but that doesn't quite sound like a TX thing.
I did as well. Lived right on the Bay front on Ocean @ Airline. Loved that view! Spoke to friends yesterday, NAS is closed today.
My friends sent me pics from HEB, the shelves that carry the necessities were bare a couple of days ago. I think everyone is ready. They may have the ‘manana syndrome’ in Corpus, but boarding up their homes for a hurticaine is second nature to them.
... just ANOTHER reason to hate the media. They’ve cried wolf so many times that no one really believes anything they say anymore - even about the weather.
