Now we’re beginning to see some impressive wind speeds. A buoy 60 nautical miles off the coast of Corpus Christi is reporting 56 m.p.h. winds. This buoy is 30 miles from the reported center of H. Harvey.

H. Harvey is about 25 miles from this buoy now, and the buoy is reporting 63 m.p.h. winds.

Do you have one of those 10,000 gallon water tanks?

Pretty scary with predictions for various areas ranging from 10 to 40 inches of rain in next few days with static storm.

The EURO model run just now predicts 50” of rain in some spots over 5 days. He might need a 100,000 or 1,000,000 gallon water tank.

No, wish I did...I used to bury tens and 20’s and the occasional 30’s in the ground for fuel systems..

We have stock tanks. Bigger volume.

The good General probably did not have a hard time convincing a construction guy who saw what Sandy did that caution is the way to go.

MSM press already warming up to blame Trump for a slow emergency response to Harvey. Live WH press conference discussing Harvery prep strategies. The questions are obtuse and inflammatory.

Concerns about immigration checkpoints during evacuation. "What skill set should president Trump display for his first natural disaster?" "Shouldn't we be hearing directly and personally from Trump when this disaster is facing the people?"

Perspective:

Just 9.9" of rain did this in Houston April 2016. The are now expecting 20"-40" from this storm. The continued long duration of heavy rain is of great concern.....

SNORT. Speaking as someone who's been there, done that, and got the t-shirt, just knowing Trump is POTUS would be enough for me.

In the early 1960's I lived in a small town -- Refugio.

It is between Corpus Christi and Victoria.

It is close to the coast and I believe low lying.

I hope they evacuate that town...

I’m listening to this.....reporters need to ‘ask’ questions not make personal biased statements made to incite and mislead the public. How I detest the media!

I was reading earlier about the ‘grumbling/whining’ of the ACLU regarding the checkpoints remaining open. They simply think they should close so there can be a mad dash across the borders!

These reporters are a disgusting brood of vipers!

On the amwx board one of the mets said he had no words for the predicted rainfall. Biblical doesn’t being to cover 60” of rain over 5 days.

Every few years when a big storm hits Houston the flooding is worse because each time there is more concrete, more roofs, more built up ground for pads, less area for the water to spread and more run-off in less surface area and deeper.

You just can’t fix incessant urban sprawl and no zoning. The flood district and detention ponds just don’t cut the mustard and never would with rain such as is expected.
