“Hey, whatever sells papers...”

Exactly. With all prayers for Texans obviously, this why they paid their insurance, and only fools try to ride out these things.

Trust me, in 130k winds, there is nothing you’re going to do to “save the house.”

My answer is, “Something that I would never want to experience, given a chance to avoid it.”

And every time there is a big rain and the low spots flood some fools drive off into it and drown. Either that or the freeway gridlocks, the water rises, they stay in their cars and drown.

So just another day in Houston. Shelter in place. The closer you get to fifth ward or mid-town or well, most of Houston shelter in place is just another day at the office. ‘Cept it is from thugs and not storms.

I’ve got kin in Houston, they’re refugeeing to my parents house 2 states away. Better safe than sorry and it’s a good chance for impromptu family reunion over a weekend anyways. What’s to lose?

My sister in law lives in Port Lavaca. She and her hubby will be going inland to Victoria to stay with our nephew, but that may not be far enough. I wonder if this is going to be a catastrophic event for their home.

And Port Lavaca is flat as a pool table, which means there is virtually no elevation above sea level in Matagorda Bay.

There is nowhere for 53 inches of rain to go.

Not just the rain, but storm surge too probably. Let’s all hope the models are wrong, otherwise...

Port Lavaca is on the “dirty” side of this storm. Someone is going to get hammered. I’m praying for her safety and for her home, but what do you do? Put the belongings upstairs and let the wind rip off the 2nd floor? Leave them on the 1st floor and have them flooded? There is no good outcome here.
