Dem Senators Silent on Whether Menendez Should Resign if Convicted
The Washington Free Beacon ^ | Sept. 07, 2017 | Paul Crookston

Senate Democrats are steering clear of Sen. Robert Menendez's federal corruption trial, not answering questions on whether the New Jersey Democrat should resign if convicted.

**snip**Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and Democratic Sens. Jon Tester (Mont.), Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.), and Ben Cardin (Md.) have all demurred when asked about the possibility of a Menendez conviction.

"Senator Menendez is issuing a spirited defense," Schumer said when asked if he would stand by him during the trial. "We all believe in the presumption of innocence in this country, and Senator Menendez is fighting very hard and we respect that greatly."

Force him to pitch in a baseball game on the Republican team as punishment.

And they will continue to say that even if Menendez is convicted. They will say that up until the time Christie is out of office and a Democrat is safely seated in the governors chair. Only then will they call for Menendez’s resignation.

If this were a Republican, it would be front page news and covered 24/7 on cable. But a Democrat...crickets.

Now that Menendez has played the Hispanic-Race-Card is it fair to ask about the European ancestry of Robert Menendez and Salomon Melgen?

Such hypocrisy...

Menendez indicted April 1, 2015. He and Demwits tried to run out calendar. Fail. Trial reportedly to last a month. Then verdict. Guilty I would think. But in NJ? Who knows...Bet jurors under extreme pressure...

Here’s their thinking: If Menendez is convicting prior to the election, Gov. Christie (a Republican) names his replacement. Better to have Menendez in jail and absent from the Senate than have a Republican take his place. After the election, if a Democrat is elected (as appears likely), then throw Menendez under the bus and replace him with a Democrat who hasn’t been caught yet.

A conviction will only strengthen his creds with democrats and other leftists.

They don’t pride themselves on being honest and ethical.

They pride themselves on being able to find loopholes, work the system, or just outright cheating.

In other words, dems will lie to protect a guilty democrat, but do all they can to destroy an innocent Republican.

Beat me to it. The dems are considering their options for Menendez; head the DNC, chief fundraiser, VP on the 2020 ticket, Supreme Court ...

“Senate Democrats are steering clear of Sen. Robert Menendez’s federal corruption trial, not answering questions on whether the New Jersey Democrat should resign if convicted.”

HEY REPUBLICAN LEADER IDIOTS !!!!!

How about LEARNING SOMETHING from the Democrats and STAYING QUIET until you at least have some facts. We all know you hate Trump and wish he’d drop dead of a heart attack tomorrow (at the latest). We get that. We’re stuck with that.

But it DOES NOT mean that you are REQUIRED to attack Trump when commanded to do so by the media. You don’t have to defend Trump...all you have to do is simply say something like one of the following:

1) “I have no comment”
2) “I don’t have enough information to know either way”
3) “Let’s wait until we get all sides of this”

Or, in more specific cases:

1) “Look, there was clearly violence by both sides - how much each side was responsible for the violence remains to be determined. It may mostly the fault of the Alt-Right, but we don’t know yet.” (as opposed to immediately taking the side of the Left and blaming all of the violence on the Alt-Right)

2) “Sure, Trump tends to be a bit grandiose when describing the Wall, but does anyone think we have a secure Southern Border” (as opposed to saying that Trump is ‘attacking Hispanics’ by supporting the Wall)

3) “Look, no one denies that our voting system needs some reform - 20 million people are registered in more than one state. Is there any cheating? Of course. There is some level of cheating? Was the cheating enough to cost Trump the popular vote? Well, I don’t think so, but Trump thinks so. Seems to me an investigation, at the least, is called for.” (as opposed to saying that Trump is insane for saying there’s any voter fraud)

In other words there are ways of supporting the 80 PERCENT OF REPUBLICAN VOTERS who voted for and still support Trump, without having to agree with everything Trump says.

In other words, it is NOT NECESSARY to insult us Trump supporters - you CAN have it both ways, not fully support Trump, and not insult us at the same time.

Please try to understand that - you guys are not hurting us by what you’re doing, but you are in the process of costing YOUR OWN FRIENDS their seats (such as Flake, Heller, and Strange). We are sick of this crap...END IT!

Sincerely yours,
BobL

Hmmmm.... Flake, Heller, and Strange are immune from criticism. Yikes. DISAGREE with that thought.
