Trump: Dems will win Alabama Senate seat if Moore wins primary
The Hill ^ | 09/25/2017 | Jacqueline Thomsen

President Trump said that a primary win by Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore will open the seat for a Democratic win during a radio appearance Monday.

Trump, who traveled to Alabama Friday to stump for Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), told the syndicated "Roy & Bubba" radio show based out of Birmingham, Alabama that Democrats will pour millions of dollars into the election if their candidate goes up against Moore.

"Luther Strange is going to be a great Senator. He loves Alabama, he loves the states and he loves the country. He will absolutely win against the Democrat,” Trump said, according to Alabama.com.

“Ray will have a hard time. If Luther wins, the Democrats will hardly fight. If Ray wins (Democrats) will pour in $30 million."

Trump also initially called Moore by the wrong name during the interview, referring to him as “Ray Moore.”

When host Rick Burgess pointed out that Moore’s name is Roy, Trump responded that it’s “not a good sign" if the president doesn’t know his name.

"I don't know that much about Roy Moore. Roy Moore is going to have a very hard time getting elected against the Democrat,” Trump said. “Against Luther they won't even fight."

Trump is probably saying this to placate Mitch TurtleTurd.

That is a pretty juvenile concern.

AL voters have already seen and heard everything with Roy Moore in the past 15 years. And yet you think he is about to say something new and embarrassing?

It’s that kind of thinking in (allegedly) conservative ranks which has given us wall to wall GOPe.

Question is, if Moore wins how will Trump deal with a hostile senator on the right? This could damage his coalition.

Christine O’Donnell, I am not a witch comes to mind. Don’t know either candidate as I don’t live in Alabama, but we have to win/keep the seat! That’s all that matters to me up here in CT!

Rumor is Kushner is responsible for this bad endorsement on Trump’s part.

Trump's decisions are Trump's alone. Not Kushner's. Not Ivanka's. Not anyone else's.

That’s stupid. You just keep sucking up to the GOP-E, those good folks who have adopted the leftist agenda and are leading America down the socialist rat hole.

I have concerns about Moore going full Todd Atkins.....

I have concerns about Moore going full beltway maverick and TV appearance hound. His past certainly hints at that should he win.

Yes, Moore would be hostile and no help. And Trump knows it. IF he wins the General. Big IF. Many supporting Moore are also hostile to Trump. They’re addicted to losing.

Moore is going to win the run off & the general election. President Trump is going to get another supporter who’s not afraid to stand up to the GOPe in the Senate.

You mean like Rand Paul? Moore would be looking out for #1 and he’ll support POTUS only as much as required.

To what end? The GOP-E is either worthless or worse. We have to start fighting. What is the point of voting if the best we have is Strange Luther?

Not sure what Trump’s agenda is at the moment. If it has deviated from the main points of his campaign, then we need a man like Roy Moore to help set it back on course.

So let me get this straight, you would rather not have the conservative, pro-Constitution R’s that we already have, and add to their total? You would prefer to add more GOPe? The life of a lobbyist is grand, isn’t it?

For the life of me, it is not understood why he persists. So according to him the d’rats will win no matter who gets the vote? Do know if living in Alabama at present, I’d vote for Moore - he has made a positive name for himself outside of the afore mentioned state. Strange, has not.

Moore holds power with the Baptist network and it’ll be hard to get people to come out in a non-election year, and vote.

Moore also does fine with Evangelicals, and with the traditional and conservative Catholics in the Cullman area (EWTN/Shrine of Christ the King). Strange would be acceptable if he were in Oregon, or Pennsylvania or Maine. Alabama can do better. Moore is better.

One of my co-corkers is from Alabama, and he can't stand Moore, as he's libertarian minded, best I can tell. He couldn't be bothered to vote in the primary. Pro-Moore people are more motivated than anti-Moore people in an off-year.
