Some may not like it, but it's been done before for reasons that have nothing to do with protests. I seem to remember seeing the same thing at some other games where there was an event of some significance going on in the U.S. at the same time (post-9/11, Persian Gulf War, etc.).

We might expect President Trump to thank them for their dignified approach, too.

To me it’s almost unfathomable that the Steelers, the ultimate blue collar franchise, blue collar fans. Loyal, passionate, follow their tear everywhere...could be reduced to this. Could cower out of the National Anthem like snowflakes. Do they not know their fan base? Did they not know what the blowback would be? I’m watching youtube after youtube of Steelers fans burning terrible towels, tickets, other gear.

Total disbelief. This is a proud, legendary franchise. Coming from a Jets fan who wishes my team had the legacy of success that yours does.
