Alabama Republican Roy Moore leads Democrat Doug Jones by less than 6 points in a new Senate special election poll that's likely to raise questions about whether the deep-red state is in play.
Moore, the controversial former judge who won Tuesday's GOP primary runoff, leads Moore by a margin of 50.2 percent to 44.5 percent in a new poll conducted by Opinion Savvy and commissioned by Decision Desk HQ. About 5 percent of polled voters said they were undecided.
Democrats are cautiously eying the race in the hopes that Moore's penchant for controversy can help them pull a surprise upset. Moore has a solid base of support among the state's evangelical community, a reliable voting bloc, thanks to losing his position as chief justice of the state Supreme Court twice for disregarding court orders on the separation of church and state and gay marriage.
But he's also drawn serious criticism for both those decisions as well as some controversial comments he's made in the past. He's argued that terror attacks and violence may have been caused by a drift away from religion, that homosexual conduct should be illegal, and said that a Muslim congressman shouldn't be seated in Congress.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha oh please stop you’re killing me. Democrat can win in Alabama - yeah right.
Ossoff won 48% in the primary race. After spending 30 million Ossoff got 48% in the run-off.
Handel lived in the district, Ossoff did not. For years Handel has been running for elected offices, including county commissioner, sec. of state, governor, Senator, and always won her district. Dems were stupid to put so much money into the race.
Last November the same pollster said that Clinton would win Wisconsin big time.
The pollster knows how to get coverage from the MSM.
I suspect the Democrats are just 6 pts behind the NFL in popularity right now in any real poll.
Left wing Dem run propaganda outfit spreading the lies .
Not shocked by this lie already being pushed .
I’ll never tire of watching these sorts of videos from the election. Best election ever! Reminds me of Glen Beck’s gloat fest after Bush beat Kerry.
Also will never forget that I literally wept, crying tears of joy and relief around 1 AM that night Trump won.
Look at a great many county results and you’d think it was a GOP landslide. A ton of rural counties saw the highest GOP vote share since the 20’s or even ever. I think much that was more anti-Hillary, while in non-rural blue collar counties it was more pro-Trump.
On the flip side some results would make you think it must be a rat landslide.
Well, let’s be honest. Moore isn’t the greatest candidate we could put forth. Don’t get me wrong - I’ll send him money and support him. I’m sure he’s bright enough, but he comes across as a cartoon character sometimes. Obviously, if we lose this seat it would be a disaster of major proportions.
Yeah sure, just before the primary, the polls had Strange nipping at the heels of Moore, predicting a a close race.
When the results came in Moore trounced him.
Did you notice that the article mentioned some of Moore’s stands on certain topics that stimulate the Dems, but ignored Jones’ support for abortion at any stage of the pregnancy. This poll was conducted to mold public opinion and not to measure it. Yeah, the girlie boy was going to win in GA, but he got shellacked.
DOESN’T MATTER WHAT A QUESTIONABLE POLL SAYS. WHAT MATTERS IS KEEPING SEN. MOORE IN THE SENATE. OR YOU GET A CLINONITE ULTRA LIBERAL!
SEN, MOORE’S General election Dec opponent is not a squishy Republican. It’s much worse. His opponent is Doug Jones, an ultra-liberal zealot best known as one of the most liberal members of Bill Clinton’s Justice Department under Janet Reno. I cannot tell you how important your continued financial support will be.

6 points is yuge!
Agreed.
Does he think a woman can get pregnant from real rape?
That’s the only question he is going to be asked by the press between now and the election.
No pro-abortion Democrat is going to win in Al.
Moore ran 16 points behind Romney in 2012 when he got 51 percent of the vote.
He finished 4th in the Alabama primary for governor a few years back.
He’s not exactly popular as even those in the state that support his politics recognize him as a bit of a loon.
If I were a Dem, I would be wondering why I didn’t find a very religious black Democrat to run for this seat.
Because, a huge turnout in the black community (which likely won’t happen in a December election) could make this very interesting.
Moore will win by 10, but it should be 20.
