Harvey Weinstein and the Slow-Motion Theft of American Culture
American Thinker.com ^ | October 9, 2017 | Jack Cashill

Posted on 10/09/2017 5:49:36 AM PDT by Kaslin

"I cannot be more remorseful about the people I hurt and I plan to do right by all of them,” wrote movie mogul Harvey Weinstein upon being busted for all manner of sexual predations, before adding this only-in-Hollywood non-sequitur, “I am going to need a place to channel that anger so I've decided that I'm going to give the NRA my full attention."

Perhaps even more troubling, the day before Weinstein’s apologia came this unfortunate tweet from Nancy “with the laughing eyes” Sinatra, “The murderous members of the NRA should face a firing squad.”

The Nancy tweet stung more because my once exhaustive consumption of American culture had dwindled down to Turner Classic Movies, Major League Baseball, and the Sinatra Channel on Sirius, and then Nancy had to go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like, “I hate you.” I always suspected that Weinstein did, but even though Ms. Sinatra deleted her tweet, the contempt lingers.

I do not need to watch Weinstein’s Pulp Fiction any more than I already have, but Nancy is the mainstay host of the Sinatra Channel, a daily staple. Having just given up on the NFL, I have to ask myself how much more of our common culture will be denied me and the millions of Americans who would rather desert that culture than be demeaned by its custodians.

Yeah, I noticed that. The Nancy Sinatra comment stuck out because it was reported here a couple days ago. C’est la vie.

Way to go Cashill!

KC audiences on radio talk shows, the Star, etc. have become a very bleak pallet of nothingness

NPR or PBS scheduled “debates” have become two sides of the same coin, kind of like “Dumb and Dumber!”

Of course, the KC (Red) Star looks like some cheap 6 page shopping flyer with ads sprinkled between Marxist propaganda!

Most local citizens are able to check sports, weather and obits online for free and read the occasional music review again without subscribing to the once vibrant “newspaper.”

The Star once carried enough news, it came not only once but twice per day.

It was a place where readers went to read about all things local, national and even international.

Sadly, Star editors set the headlines on local teevee news shows as well, so the leftward slant has even overtaken news items, sandwiched in between which Hollywierd “Star” has gone trans or which heartthrob is actually on his third “husband!”

This article is more about “the Slow-Motion Theft of American Culture” not so much about Weinstein. Thing is, the culture is not a being stolen, it’s being demolished and very often our side is helping.

And to think I was named after her (Nancy With The Laughing Face). My mother loved Sinatra, and yes, my brother's name is Frank.

As with Bill Clinton—the NYT, SNL, MSM, NOW and all the other usual suspects who scream bloody murder when a conservative strays pull their Sgt. Schulz act when a Democrat serial sex criminal is unmasked: “We see nothing”.

And - strangely - it made perfect sense to the Hollywood elites.
It’s a similar mentality that says - I can lecture you about your SUV & air conditioners while I jet around the world. I can do this by purchasing carbon credits.

In their doctrine - redemption is achieved by attacking normal Americans.

>> Amazing how this collection of degenerates and morons regards the people that enrich them with complete contempt.

Actually, I find it quite understandable. How much respect would you have for a person who gives you money and practically worships you while you abuse them, laugh at them, mock them, and regard them as backward hicks. That basically describes the foolishness of celebrity worship in this country. I don’t care if it’s actors, singers, pro athletes, movie producers/distributors, business owners, politicians, or what.

Far too many people are slobbering sycophants to these people. Nobody respects a suck-up. At best they tolerate or are annoyed by them. At worst they take advantage of them.

Ask yourself how ga-ga you would be if you met your favorite sports hero, actor, or singer. Ask yourself how far out of your way you would go to see them (walk across the street, drive 100 miles to a concert, enter a contest to win a dinner with them, ....). Ask yourself how many people you would tell and how long it would take for you to start calling people and telling them that you met this person. Ask yourself how much money you’ve spent on this person who already has way more money than you do. Now ask yourself how do you imagine this person thinks of you or regards you.

I think he was just trying to grab hold of something in current events for purposes of distraction - and, yes, redemption among the mindless.

What a resourceless idiot.

He’s a bully though - and he knows stuff about powerful people.
This is going to be interesting.

I’m wondering, though, if his crime isn’t ‘victimless’, as the liberals might say.

After all, if a woman wants fame and fortune so much that she’ll submit herself to a powerful (if creepy) man who wants to use her in exchange for what she wants: who is really at fault?

If he forced himself - raped a woman - then, that’s one thing. But if he demanded services in exchange for some value and the woman capitulated, I think that’s called ‘prostitution’, no?

Just a thought.
