Over the weekend, it was reported that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) had been assaulted on his own property by his next-door neighbor. At that time, Pauls spokesperson said that Paul had only suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, the alleged assailant 59-year-old Rene Boucher was charged with fourth-degree assault.
Over the past day, however, more details have come out and it appears Pauls injuries were far more severe than we were initially told. It has now been revealed that the Kentucky lawmaker sustained five broken ribs and bruised lungs and he may not be able to travel to Washington for a while. Meanwhile, Bouchers lawyer released a statement claiming that the altercation was not over politics and instead something trivial. And the arrest report was just recently released:
This afternoon, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith discussed the mystery surrounding the story of a sitting US Senator having his ribs broken after being assaulted on his own property.
Now the senators office reports he has five rib fractures, some displaced ribs and bruised lungs, Smith said. Police arrested Rene Boucher. The charge, fourth-degree misdemeanor assault. They say they dont know what this was about. Which means they havent asked? Also, fourth-degree misdemeanor assault? Hes out on $7,500 bail after attacking a sitting United States senator and sending him to the hospital for a prolonged absence in great pain.
Smith then tossed it to reporter Chad Pergram for additional details on the case. After Pergram provided what was known up to that time, the Fox News anchor wanted to know if anything had been heard from Pauls family, noting that they now have a statement from Bouchers attorney.
Not a word, not a word, Pergram responded. And the fact that it took a couple days to hear from Bouchers attorneys and describes it in these bromides that its just an unfortunate incident, that qualifies as pretty strange as well.
Smells like a skunk in the chicken house but I havent seen the skunk, Smith dryly noted.
Were digging, Shep, we certainly are, Pergram said back. Ive been on the phone all day, Saturday, Sunday. Ive been looking at this for two days now.
Smith concluded, Twitter will decide and then it will be too late.
Shrimp Smith is a skunk in the Fox News chicken house!!!
Can’t stand that guy.
Shep is probably a “chicken hawk.”
Like Shep knows anything about skunks or chickens.
It is rather fishy.
Every time Shemp opens his mouth, all I hear is a queef.
Details about Rene Boucher, the man who assaulted Rand Paul, reveal possible motive
The real story wont come out for quite a while. Obviously, everybody involved has been told to shut up and not talk to press.
Really...who gives a rats ass?
skunk in the chicken house?????? doesn’t even make sense
Fox in the hen house or skunk in the outhouse . . . maybe
Hard to fake five broken ribs . . . of course Shep is an expert on embellished fakery
Well the whole thing does seem kind of strange..the attacker is out on what, a 7500 bond for ATTACKING a sitting Senator..they have been neighbors for 17 years now so the douche bag that attacked Paul knew he was a Republican its not like for 17 years he had no clue so why attack him now
Nothing more than a guess but I’ll bet Rand Paul himself wanted to downplay this to protect his idiot neighbor from the national media circus. Just my gut feeling that he’s not a vindictive guy and he is well aware of the insanity of the press.
It is rather fishy.
So what is Shep implying? That the assault was much worse than reported? That it’s Senator Paul’s fault? That Paul deserved it? I’m baffled.
The real skunk in the hen house is the chief Hen himself.
*snort*
This is one of the rare times I’ll take his side. He was commenting about the lack of anybody yet ascribing a motive for the assault. Right now the defense is desperately trying to say there was no political motive because that would move the whole thing up from simple aggravated assault to potential terrorism.
From your link:
“Boucher was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault. He could spend up to 12 months in jail if guilty.”
That’s on the current local charges. I looked up the U.S. Code for attacking a Federal official last night. An injury assault could get you 10 years.
He’s coming up with the same whacked-out metaphors that goofed up Dan Rather’s career. Are all drive-bys nuts??
ten years with a psychiatric leftist off our streets-sounds good. Plus no VOTING
